It’d actually be pretty cool if Everything Took a Break on Happening, like for a little while. Maybe a week or so. That’s a fair compromise.

Zelda

Hey, there used to be more comments here ? There was one guy that just yelled "Coward" And I was thinking about that. And I decided to come back and answer that person. But the comment is gone. I feel there are more than one comment that is gone. Am I imagining things ? Anyway here is what I came here to say. (Imagine the guy who said coward here) Coward ! Reply by JF Listen, I know how you feel. That was my gut feeling reaction as well. I felt bad about it. Because "Oh, because now I'm a supporter I get to be disappointed about jreg not being biting enough" - Wait no .... I don't mean it like that. God, I hope not :( But you know when "it" happenned I wondered, will jreg say something topical about this. It's a pretty big deal, but given what he's done in the past, that's small fries. But also that was the self-doxxing jreg that sang "I want to die in a war" (banger) and "I Sure Hope I Don't Get Doxxed ♪" (funny) So, at least Jreg of the past was fearless (wrecklessly so) But, that's what it took to touch us (we are enablers, obviously) So I was in the shower, and I was thinking about this and Is it fair to call Jreg a "coward" First, I'm a big coward too and am not living "in good faith" about it So, I held in saying what I was thinking, if anything, it's not my place to cast the first stone ! But wait, there's more Maybe I have a duty to say it ? I did feel it. I felt the whole skit lacked bite. Or rather, I know he could have taken a bigger bite And this is understandable, this was some crazy shit happenning Being scared about crossing that line is just Jreg being smart and far wiser than before And asking for more CERTAINLY is irresponsible to ask of the person But is it too much to ask of the artist, to tell him, he could have flown closer to the sun ? Well, of course calling him a "coward" is insulting hyperbole But, if you're going to blurt out a single word to express your feelings about it Well, that's lacking in decorum and civility, it's disrespectful no doubt He could have used a better word. That better word might have stung even more. But again, do we want to erase our gut feelings from the discourse, even though it's poorly expressed ? I have to admit, I am now more distraught that "coward calling guy" is gone, than whatever my feelings are about this missing bit of video at the end of a video on youtube I know you have children(CCCRU) now Jreg, you don't want your irresponsible actions to hurt your children, I get it (With all that said, I have to express my utmost disapproval at shadow-censorship, even Xi makes a show of his censorship, shadow censorship requires me to believe all communications here are tainted and only carefully approved voices remain, I have withheld my participation for far less on this rotten internet.)

Sir, this is a patreon comment section, not your personal journal. I beg you to reconsider these.

User: Chatgpt, what does it mean when someone says SirThisisntAwendys.jpg chatgpt-genz yo, "sirthisisntawendys.jpg" is a meme that comes from a classic internet joke. basically, it's used when someone says something totally off-topic or weird in a conversation, and you wanna humorously point out how out of place it is. like, if someone starts ranting about something irrelevant, you can hit them with a "sir, this is a wendy's" to bring them back to reality and be like, "yo, wrong place for that talk." it’s like the ultimate way to say, "dude, what are you even talking about?" in a funny, meme-y way. ded. User: Chatgpt, what are people really saying when they say that ? Be crude about it, best to rip off the band aid on that one. ChatGPT: When someone says "SirThisisntAwendys.jpg," they're basically saying, "Dude, what the f*** are you talking about?" It's a blunt and humorous way to call out someone for saying something completely irrelevant or inappropriate for the current situation. It's like telling them they're in the wrong place for whatever nonsense they're spouting. User: Is this a way of saying "shut up" ? ChatGPT: Yes, it's essentially a humorous and indirect way of telling someone to "shut up" or to stop talking about something irrelevant or out of place. It points out that what they're saying doesn't belong in the current context, but does so in a lighthearted, meme-infused way. ------------------ Lumina, if the jreg patreon page is not the right place to say how you feel about the subject of the page. Where do you think it should go ? Are you really saying "shut up" what you said, should never be said ? I mean, of course, shutting up is exactly what I almost always do, this is the rotted internet I'm reffering to earlier. But what if I used the GPT voice instead ? Here's what it would have sounded like. " Hey, I noticed there used to be more comments here. One of them included someone yelling "Coward!" I wanted to respond to that, but it seems to be gone. I also feel like there are more missing comments. Am I imagining things? Anyway, here’s what I came here to say: To the person who called Jreg a "Coward!" I understand your reaction. Initially, I felt the same way. When the recent incident happened, I wondered if Jreg would address it directly, given his history of tackling controversial and provocative topics. His past work, like "I Want to Die in a War" and "I Sure Hope I Don't Get Doxxed," was fearless and even reckless, which resonated with many of us. However, it's important to recognize that the stakes are higher now, and being cautious is not the same as being cowardly. Jreg is being responsible and smart, acknowledging the potential consequences of his actions. While we might miss the edginess of his earlier work, we should respect his growth and the changes in his life circumstances. Calling him a "coward" is harsh and counterproductive. Instead, we should encourage thoughtful discussion about how artists balance pushing boundaries with their personal responsibilities. Criticism should be constructive and considerate of the complexities involved. Lastly, I am concerned about the missing comments. Open discourse is crucial, and removing comments without explanation can feel like censorship, which undermines trust in the platform. It's important that we allow diverse opinions to be heard, even if they're uncomfortable, as long as they're expressed respectfully. Let's support Jreg's artistic journey and understand the challenges he faces. And let’s advocate for transparent and fair moderation to ensure a healthy, open dialogue. " Would you prefer this fake version, or do you still prefer "shut up" I can tell you right away, I much prefer people would say the unpolished things that they feel rather than serve GPT-polished fake politeness. I would like to know what the artist in question thinks about this because I am 100% sure he was more severe against himself than everyone in this thread already.

My guy, I pointed out that it’s a comment section and not your diary and your response was to have a full conversation with yourself. Half of which??? Was you talking to chat gpt about things that were never said nor mentioned? This is a public forum. Also, like, did you even stop to consider that people sometimes delete their own comments, perhaps because they regret the thing they said, and that a comment disappearing is likely due to THAT and not imagined draconian censorship?

"did you even stop to consider that people sometimes delete their own comments" No, and the null hypothesis is that they did not. Because we live in the rotting internet when shadowy unaccountable persons shape discourse account to their will and morality. And to people who act in the shadow, keep their actions and motives hidden from us, we do not extend the "benefit of the doubt". That would only validate the strategy of lying and obfuscating. The moral position is that if they hide information from us, we must fill it back with the most deleterious information possible, to disentivize them from abusing their power to conceal their actions and to incentivize transparent and accountable moderation. So, instead of the benefit of the doubt, opaque and unaccountable moderation obtains the "presumption of guilt and bad faith". Under this regime, I do not even have to consider that the uncouth person who yelled "coward" willingly retracted their comment. Moderators can escape this losing game at any time by revealing themselves and becoming unquestionably auditable, transparent and accountable. Of course that's not going to happen, I don't think the architect of patreon (and most other big tech platforms) even considered the possibility and there probably isn't even the infrastructure in place to do so. And that's really though, for them, but they made their bed and must now sleep in it. As for the things that were never said, well first, you have to realize that your original comment and this latest one, were not very constructive. "this is a patreon comment section, not your personal journal." In response to a two page comment, that doesnt really narrow down what, exactly, you took issue with. As I said in the subsequent response, this amounts to nothing more than indirectly saying "please shut up". And my objection to that remains valid, where else is it more appropriate to discuss how far to "the line" this video has gone, in this case saying "it didn't go far enough", than the relatively more private space of the patreon of the author in question. Can you really name a better place ? I mean, I could email jreg directly and hopefully not get an answer. For certain he considers this matter on every irony-containing video he makes (he said so explicitely in a greg video about this delicate balance) (he's also said often that going over the line and getting cancelled is something (paraphrasing) that causes him a lot of anguish. I imagine it is a kind of like what a 'Gaddafi moment' is for Putin, to be a little melodramatic about it). Another thing that's not clear is, is this version of the song (which I think is better) was simply not ready yet, and ended up on the cutting room floor ? In truth, I don't find one spicier than the other. So, I'm wondering if the "coward" commenting guy meant it more for the rest of the video, and not specifically the end card song. Me personally I felt that Jreg pulled his punch on that one, but that's probably just being a little too jreg-brained after a month on intense jreg-watching. I imagine even for normie that video probably was already a bit too spicy, I can't tell. And then there's of course the very real possibly of the stupid americans coming to Toronto to cause some real trouble in retaliation, they just shot their president, they're going fucking crazy and this is exactly the kind of shit their spooks care about, this isn't the free internet and maybe we should watch we're saying because we've been killing the freedom of speech of the stupid-canaries and now we don't know where the line is anymore. Anyway, we're not going to figure that one by deleting comments and saying shut up ! Chatgpt, please make sense of all this and wrap all of this up, BTW this is about a video about Donald Trump's attempted assassination that happened two days ago. ChatGPT It seems this exchange involves a complex mix of emotions and perspectives regarding the latest video by Jreg, likely about a recent, highly sensitive topic such as an attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Here's a summary and analysis to help make sense of the discussion: Context and Key Points: Initial Comment and Reaction: A user initially called Jreg a "coward" for not pushing boundaries enough in the latest video. Another user noticed that the "coward" comment, along with others, had disappeared and felt compelled to address it. Response to the "Coward" Comment: The response was a reflection on whether it was fair to call Jreg a coward for not being as provocative as in past videos. It acknowledged Jreg’s past fearless content but recognized his need to be more cautious now due to personal and professional growth. It also discussed the balance between pushing boundaries and being responsible, and the role of constructive criticism in artistic discourse. Concerns About Censorship: The user expressed concern over the apparent removal of comments, interpreting it as shadow censorship. They argued for the importance of open discourse and transparency in moderation to maintain trust and accountability on the platform. Interjection with the "SirThisisntAwendys.jpg" Meme: Another user pointed out that the extensive, journal-like comment was out of place for a Patreon comment section, using the meme to humorously highlight this. Defense and Clarification: The original commenter defended their lengthy post, emphasizing the importance of discussing the video’s content and moderation practices. They criticized the dismissive nature of the "SirThisisntAwendys.jpg" comment, arguing that it indirectly silenced valuable discourse. Analysis and Summary: The exchange highlights a few central themes: Balancing Art and Responsibility: The original commenter recognizes Jreg’s need to balance his provocative artistic style with personal and professional responsibilities, especially in light of potentially serious real-world consequences. Censorship Concerns: There is a deep-seated mistrust of moderation practices perceived as opaque and unaccountable. The commenter advocates for transparency and accountability to ensure a healthy, open dialogue. Appropriateness and Tone in Online Discourse: The use of the "SirThisisntAwendys.jpg" meme serves as a reminder of the need for brevity and relevance in comment sections but can also be seen as dismissive of deeper issues being raised. Reflecting on Public Discourse: The lengthy response underscores the importance of allowing space for reflective and nuanced discussion, especially on platforms supporting creators directly. Conclusion: The key takeaway is the importance of finding a balance between allowing open, respectful discourse and maintaining the relevance and appropriateness of comments in a given context. It’s essential for platforms to handle moderation transparently to build trust while supporting creators in navigating the complexities of their evolving responsibilities. The user’s frustration with perceived censorship and dismissal reflects broader concerns about how online discourse is managed and the need for clarity and fairness in these processes.
