I think after watching this drama you would understand more about BTS song No More Dream and N.O. Education pressure and social pressure are one of the major issues in East Asia. Good grades are everything for many East Asian students. Psychological problems are common among students and parents. But sometimes studying hard is the only way to find a job and live happier life in some countries in Asia. This is why Sky Castle was very popular when it was broadcast. all Koreans people and all Kpop stars were talking about this play at that time.

VJMJK

In the BTS song N.O. you would see the word SKY same as the SKY of the name of this drama. It means the Top3 university in Korea:Seoul national university,Korea university,Yonsei university.

설희 강

The funny thing is, Sky Castle was a drama intended to expose Korea's academicism, but the stand lighting and simple reading room that teacher Kim Joo-young introduced in Yeseo's Room sold a lot at the time. 😂 About 6 years have passed since this drama came out, but Korean society has not changed. Rather, the current reality is that even if young people graduate from good universities, it is difficult to find employment...🥺

This is a real struggle in our culture. I'm Asian and having college degree there is like someone's WORTH! If you don't finish college you got no future ahead of you. When I moved in the US, I really appreciate how people can get a job here easily whether you're high-school grad or college grad don't matter as long as you can do the job pretty much.

It's a blessing on the other side when Asian parents really do their best to send their kids to college and make sure they will become professionals. I think all great parents definitely want the same thing.

But not to the expense of the kids mental health. It's crazy! We don't know how to have fun and just be kids because fun is not a priority in Asian family lol but STUDIES!!! If I'll become a parent someday, I will adapt little bit of both. Prioritize studies and fun together. No to so much pressure on studies, resting, hobbies and games, family time is still important. Not too much fun as well if it will neglect studies since having education is still a great asset in life. So yeah! I would say balance of both.🙂

Josh watched the full iland series. I only watched the ones with bts in it. Maybe down the road we might watch a survival show that neither of us saw so we both can enjoy

irie

This show is intense! Everybody got secrets, I think that's why the theme song for this drama is called "We ALL lie"

The girl Ga Eul that the son left with is the daughter of his family's housekeeper. I don't know her age exactly but i don't think she's that much older. Cause the mom said they provided her education, food and everything as she grew up, so i don't think she seduced him when he was a kid and she was an adult
