I alr knew he's an excellent performer, but watching him in person the energy is just different. Every song is better live and he transitions fluidly between rap, vocals and dance in the most natural manner that it seems effortless and spontaneous. That to me is a true sign of mastery of one's craft. Not only that, he's a natural showman and entertainer. He just knows to engage the audience even while not 'performing' eg. inviting the audience to sing acapella together, teasing them using native language etc. He is committed to providing the most memorable live experience possible, and that is rare in kpop when most content is viewed and consumed through a screen. Another thing that ppl may take for granted- his sincerity in connecting with the locals through language. I'm ethnic Chinese and Mandarin is a difficult language, yet he made the effort to use Mandarin phrases in Macau & Taiwan with impressive pronunciation. In Osaka, most of his speech was in Japanese (even with colloquial dialect tailored to the crowd). In short, authenticity is the word I would use to sum up Hope on the Stage- all the elements (excellent stage design, production, choreography, costume, live band etc.) combine to create a sincere presentation of j-hope's artistry. He invites the audience into Hope World and brings them on an immersive journey such that by the end, we feel reluctant to leave.
