Welcome to Silver City (Patreon)

Hello!
I'm Andrew! I'm an illustrator and animator based on Los Angeles. I've been a Background Designer (an briefly, a storyboard revisionist) in the animation industry for about a decade. I like video games and 80s/90s anime a lot.
This is feeling like a cover letter or something...I've been introducing myself like this for a while, I just fall into it I suppose haha. ANYWAY, now that that's out of the way, let's get to why I'm starting this page:
Hotwire Insolve
About year ago, I put out a short animation I made called "Hotel Trouble," featuring Kyrie, her chromatic girlfriend Nova, and a bunch of armed goons ruining a date of theirs. The reception to this was much greater than I expected with over a quarter of a million views across platforms! It's personally one of my favorite things I've ever made.
Hotel Trouble actually takes place within the introductory story for a comic I've been writing called Hotwire Insolve, which follows Kyrie and another cyberpunk named Juno. The two of them met and quickly became best friends and, unfortunately, debt collectors. Kyrie is a street-wise dirtbag who relies on luck more than she probably should, but she's evened out by Juno's unique upbringing which gave her some serious martial arts skill and a moral compass unusual for your average Silver City resident. Their jobs lead them to helping people out of tough situations more than they actually collect payments.
I've been developing Hotwire since 2024 (if you wanna see developmental stuff, check out the Behind-the-Scenes tier!). I've been interested in the cyberpunk genre for my entire life; I love drawing cyborgs, computers, guns, cars, cities, and science fiction stuff in general. I've always wanted to make something of my own and I think I finally have a story and world I can I can do that with. Hotwire Insolve is my love letter to everything that excites me about .
I'm planning to make this a comic, with over 140 pages for the introductory story currently thumbnailed. Plus, I have outlines for additional stories with an overarching plot featuring a not-very-subtle anti-AI message.
Why a comic?
I introduced this story to the world with Hotel Trouble and other animated vingettes, and I do really think it'd work great as an animation. Sadly, I'm just one guy and animation takes a lot of time. While the idea of making an animated pilot for Hotwire is appealing, I feel I need to generate a lot more interest in the story before I consider funding something like that. Besides, comics are great. I love comics, I have a degree in comics (seriously)!
I'm planning for it to be a webcomic primarily, so it'll be freely available to read when I have a good number of pages ready to go. As that happens, I'll work out some benefits regarding that for the tiers as well.
Why Start a Patreon?
While I love working in the animation industry, it's not doing too hot right now. Lots of great, talented people are out of work. With jobs getting shorter and farther apart, and after spending 10 years helping other peoples' vision come to life, I decided it's about time I made something for myself. I'm starting this page to hopefully get a little support for the endeavor.
I'll be feeling out the cadence of content here at the beginning, but I've got a huge backlog of stuff for the Behind-the-Scenes and "The Good Stuff" tiers, with plenty more being made every week!
Thanks for your interest in my art! I'm looking forward to this journey and hope you'll come along on the ride!
Let's make some cool shit!
