Hotwire Insolve BTS: Bulletproof Drive 14-15 (Patreon)

As I mentioned at the end of the last Bulletproof Drive Behind-the-Scenes post, I'm just going over one spread for this cuz the next spread has a lot to go over, actually. this spread is also maybe the easiest one in the whole comic, so this'll be quick, haha

in the first panel, Zack's dialogue i didn't really figure out til i was adding in the words after i drew it. i wanted him to say something indicating why he was going to grab the shotgun off the armature at the door, but i didn't want it to be the focus of the panel. struggling to think of something natural-sounding, i just went the opposite direction and had him rambling exactly what he was doing and why. to further the meta of the joke, it morphs into me directly poking at the reader for trying to read it at all.

something unplanned, but absolutely welcome—the car in the 6th panel is just traced from page 8. when penciling, i noticed the angle was similar and i figured "why not?" one less car to draw! maybe a sensibility from working in animation so long, but reuse where appropriate is always welcome to me. gets the thing done faster! did ya notice? did ya?

page 15 was a nice one for me. all i had to do was draw juno and kyrie, which i like to do and is pretty much the whole reason for any of this—to draw juno and kyrie over and over. PLUS i only had to draw 2 simple backgrounds, which rules. i wanted to make sure kyrie was covered a little bit by the tarp around the operating room area so juno doesn't really notice her skinlessness here.

the expressions changed a bit between the pencil and the inks. it was an interesting challenge to have them communicate wordlessly. not sure how successful it was, which my lack of confidence maybe shows in having juno losing the plot a bit too, haha.
