Hiiii! It's time for the final Behind-the-Scenes post for Bulletproof Drive! Let's get into it:

sometime late in drawing Bulletproof Drive—around when Zack get's kicked in the head by Juno, I'd guess—I wondered "what the hell happens to Zack?" The answer was "Henry sticks him into the trunk of a car and then drives it like a maniac." that's when I came up with the idea to tack on an epilogue.

since these aren't normal people and not normal cars, I thought it was also an excellent opportunity for a little lore dump. and so, we get henry briefly explaining Cyber-Integrated Driving Assistance, and then the reveal that Zack is being tortured by being jacked into the car from the trunk. henry's not really a bad guy, but he's certainly vindictive and untrustworthy, so he gets a little comeuppance with some puke on his shoes.

I wanted to get the epilogues done relatively quickly, so i cut plenty of corners, mostly focusing on drawing the cars well. the view of the garage in the first panel is the same drawing as on the first page, then it's 4 panels of henry talking in the car, and the parking lot Henry stops in is modeled after the one seen in my animation "Katana Fight." I left the shot of the city blank in the last panel cuz I thought I'd just wing it when I got to the final art. The car in the last panel is also just the 3rd drawing in first panel flipped and edited to have the trunk open, and bob's your uncle! comics!

I also found this early sketch of the second panel on the second page; the one of zack climbing out of the trunk. i decided against it cuz i liked him more shell-shocked, and laying there. also the puke thing is much more sudden this way. this drawing didn't make it too far, but it DOES look CRAZY.

when i came up with the epilogue with zack and henry, i also thought that maybe there should be ANOTHER epilogue but with our main characters. we gotta see more of Juno and Kyrie! you're not here for whatever the hell henry and zack are doing, right? well, if you are i'm sorry, they don't show up that much later on.

when i gave an epilogue with J&K some thought, i immediately thought "they go an do donuts with their new car." but i didn't think that would sustain 2 pages, so i used it as an opportunity to give some Juno backstory! Because I think Juno is cool, and maybe her motivation for wanting the car needed a little more explaining. Also the swing from that to the donuts is a little glimpse of their friendship being based in thrill-seeking. they help each other have fun :^)

continuing to cut corners, these pages are mostly just talking heads, which i find much easier to get through. also practically every car we see is a 3D model. it doesn't really matter where they are doing the donuts, but i imagined this is the top level of a parking garage someplace. Kyrie pukes at the end here cuz i thought it would be funny if both epilogues ended with puking for some reason. also it's a recurring thing that Kyrie doesn't handle Juno's advanced driving very well.

Not sure I'll do this format for BTS posts in the future, they're pretty time-consuming to write. might do more WIPs of individual pages with brief commentary, but i'll figure that out when i get to it!

I haven't forgotten i wanna do a lore-dump post about Silver City and CyberMods, but i wanna put together some cool pictures to go along with that, which is sort of a project in itself.
