Anastasia's motivation has been something that has gotten a decent amount of debate in the comments. But that was always the plan that Anastasia feels more motivated by obligation than necessarily her personal desires, which seems like is probably an accurate way to describe a lot of nuns.

Rather anticlimactic. So there was no master plan, just an obligation of being a witch…? Will Jenna be able to at least somehow spark a personal desire and goal in Anastasia that could require immortality? Now I just feel bad for Anastasia. Getting betrayed (in her view) by Bianca and never having trusted another person, she ends up so focused on her goal that she can’t even see the dire consequences of such power. Sure she gets to live forever and becomes impossible to kill, but with no higher purpose or calling, she would just be walking through existence like a zombie, no goal, no friends to walk beside her, and no reason to keep living. And even when she inevitably goes insane with boredom, she will have now way to give it back cuz I don’t think there a take backs in witchcraft

I like how you made Anastasia realize that she's been chasing a goal so long she doesn't even know the reason for her orginal goal in the first place. We where just talking about that a few pages ago. Lol

I get it immortality is always a great end goal for magic types because the research of the thing always leads to other research. Immortality may be the goal but that's just it the goal, spending long enough on that tread mill fuels itself why did you start the research "I don't want to die" why do I keep researching "I started and it spun out of control and each line of thought I try leads to something new and interesting" you wind up performing research for its own sake having discovered cures for all the ills and mastered/developed new surgery techniques its self sustaining and fun
