My first dedicated mechanical failure plugin for ETS2 is officially in development.

TBX is built around one idea: giving individual truck systems their own failures, consequences and service history. A failing alternator, unavailable wipers or an engine electronics fault should each create a different situation on the road.

πŸ”§ What’s currently implemented?

The plugin includes 10 failure types:

Starter motor failure

Fuel pump failure

Engine electronics failure

Alternator failure

Battery failure

Wiper motor failure

Cruise control failure

High beam circuit failure

Main lighting circuit failure

Retarder control failure

Failure probability takes mileage, wear and previous faults into account. Faults remain saved between sessions, with separate records for each identified truck.

πŸ› οΈ Roadside service and difficulty settings

Roadside assistance includes a repair timer, a service estimate and a checklist showing when repairs can proceed. The truck must be stopped, the parking brake applied and the engine switched off.

Casual, Realistic and Hardcore presets let you choose the level of challenge.

Repair costs are currently simulated β€” they do not deduct money from your ETS2 balance.

πŸ–₯️ A dedicated service interface

The redesigned panel includes:

Vehicle overview and active fault cards

Repair progress and service requirements

Vehicle history

Difficulty and notification settings

Connection diagnostics and parked testing tools

The plugin is packaged as a single DLL, with no separate launcher required.

🚧 Current development status

The core systems and interface are implemented and have passed all tests. Further in-game testing is needed to check compatibility, control behaviour and balance.

The current version supports owned trucks. It uses supported control commands to create fault consequences; it does not directly modify the game’s internal component damage.

πŸ’› Planned release: TSC PRO

Because of the development work and testing involved, TBX Random Mechanical Failures will be released for TSC PRO members on Patreon.

I’ll share more previews and development updates as testing progresses.

Release date: to be announced.
