I'm still trying to figure out the logistics of this -- it seems as if you have to actually start a Hangout session, you can't just set it up and get to it later, but I have a couple of days to look at that -- but, yeah, let's call it 7:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday, August 6.

I hope the bulk of you who are going to conventions, e.g., ConFluence in Pittsburgh, will be done and home by then, but either way I'mma do my best to make sure there's an archive.

More info tomorrow, when I've sussed the tech. If you've used Google Hangout before and have some insight, please feel free to edjamacate me below. (Marc Gunn, are you there...?)

Wild Card

I keep getting told that Google Hangouts have a limit of 10 people in them for the free version. I do not know if this will be an issue, but wanted to raise the yellow flag now, just in case.

I'm in several google hangouts with way more than 10 people and I only have the free version. Are you maybe looking at Google Suites?

It's been over a year since we set up our once-monthly Hangout, so I don't remember the specifics of original setup. However, once you've set it up, the same link can be used month to month with no problem. I have a vague recollection we started the hangout without inviting anyone, then distributed the link by email well before the actual hangout occurred. Distributing it by Patreon would avoid the complication we had of needing to send it before the daily digest of the mailing list went out...

Not going to be home any chance you'll save it as a podcast?
