Hello everyone and happy March!

Here is the detail of the new RPO M1 features that are entering Testing today and are soon to be released!

______________________________________

*** 1.**** TYPE OF 'NOT WANTING TO HAVE CHILDREN' ****

NOTES: You do not have to specify this; if you do not, it defaults to "does not want a child right now".

Some NPC's get specific polarities assigned and some don't, so your game stays flexible.

Sims who don't want children ever are immune to prompts that might change this preference. Sims who simply think it is a bad time to have children will have some facilities in making peace with a pregnancy, and often by trimester two will get a prompt about it.

*** 2.**** NUMBER OF CHILDREN WANTED ****

NOTES: You do not have to specify this for every Sim, use it only when you want.

Some NPC's get a specific number wish assigned and some don't, so your game stays flexible.

Every time a Sim gets a new child, the number of wanted children is adjusted down. Once a Sim has reached their desired number of children, their preferences automatically adjusted to "does not want children - has already had enough", and they get a special moodlet.

*** 3.**** FAMILY PREFERENCE CHANGE PROMPTS ****

OPTIONS

This system is optional and you can turn it on or off in global settings.

When it is on, you can also just disable it for particular sims by adding a trait to them.

_________

WHAT AND WHEN

NOTE: There are cooldowns in place so that your Sim does not get several prompts in a row or close together in time.

Prompts have chances to happen:

- for preferences regarding having children: when talking to someone of different preferences about such topics, when engaging alone in interactions related to such topics directly, after positive or negative events related to raising and taking care of a child, (tantrums, dirty diapers, sweet moments, etc) when building good relationships with nieces and nephews (or bad ones); when starting of ending committed relationships

Sims can announce having changed their mind on this, and their partners reactive according to that brings their wishes closer together or further apart.

NOTE: Sims who are set to Never Ever want children are immune to those prompts. So are Sims who have decided they've had enough children already.

- For preferences regarding willingness to be pregnant: after having had several children, after having lost a pregnancy, after interactions about such topics

- For preferences regarding baby gender (REMINDER that baby gender prefs is an OPTIONAL system that is off by default, and that it does take into account gender identity from my lgbtqia mod): when a sim has no preference yet but is expecting a child, when a Sim has had several children all of the same gender

Incidentally, there are also new moodlets as part of the gender system, which have to do with if a sim has had only children of the same gender so far or not.

KEEPING INFORMED OF CHOICES MADE

Even if using the 'fate' option, you can always know what choices were made as notifications are shown.

_____

***4. ****** Fixes and unrelated additions

- Fix for WTDs not auto assigning to newly made NPCs anymore- safeguard to prevent an error if people try to input float values in settings- text changes and fixes- addition of an interaction to enable Sims to properly separate in cases where the EA system does not allow for it due to particular circumstances in relationship levels (the game's version of "asks to just be friends" is not available for certain relationship combos, which was a problem for M6 and potentially M10)

- other things but I don't remember at the moment

So exciting! My first impressions: Having just gone through a pregnancy acceptance arc I love that it will more dynamically display. I wanted my heir to accept his child before birth and was obsessively checking after performing affirmative actions 😄! I assume this takes into account Family Oriented and Hates Children traits? Family oriented sims have NS calls and wants for babies CONSTANTLY, having them marked as never wants kids would rarely if ever jive with vanilla gameplay. I allow my sims to have a gender preference but it's never happened. Is this changing it from having to be set manually to being potentially dynamic? If so that's super exciting as my sim families are small and I have never seen a reason to set it but LOVE the idea of them deciding that for themselves and dealing with the outcome ❤️ Really looking forward to this for G10, who I anticipate will have a big family since they have to be family oriented (NSB rules)

I just read through it and it all sounds awesome! I'll let you know if I come up with any questions or suggestions - thanks for asking!

Meka

Hi! Wow, this sounds amazing! I don't think I have any suggestions. I love what you have & this will greatly expand storytelling options.

Daenerys July Queen

In a future update can you add grief counseling after a miscarriage

prettaieyez

Glad the suggestion came about because I didn't know I needed it until I saw it lol

Vicky Anderson

This looks amazing. I've always been frustrated when the sims go to the parenthood classes and the therapy but they don't autonomously change their mind about the pregnancy. As always you're coming through with tweaks! <3

merchantfan

Looks really great! Excited for this!

Riley Blanco

You are absolutely amazing! ❤️ I was wondering if there were any way to make a one sided relationship (I'm so sorry if it's something that I have tapped into yet)

Chaos Magic

Thank you for the amazing mods!!!

Bianca

I love this! Your mods add so much to the game that I honestly can’t see myself playing without them anymore. Is there some way you can add an interaction for the non-pregnant sim parent for when the pregnant sim is giving birth? I.e. when clicking on the surgery machine or bassinet. They could have different reactions depending on if they want children or not, and in turn get different moodlets from being present during the birth. Just a thought (:

This looks great! I'm looking forward to this update :-) I do have two suggestions: 1. For the sims who don't want children EVER, saying "I'm sorry [but I don't want children.]" sounds like they are apologising for feeling that way. Simply saying "No, I don't want children." sounds better to me. 2. This update is mostly about not wanting children, but for those who do want children I'd like to see the option "desperately wants a child" and the extra drama it could add :-)

Sam D.

Do conversations with a partner when there is stark opposition about having children affect the relationship bar or just give a mood buff? If so, how big is the change? I find that too few interactions in game affect the relationship bar with any significance. It would also be good to link these features to the separation module when strong differences exist.

PapaFries

is it possible to re-add the option to turn off choices?

Jasmine Williams

Will you consider adding wanting/not wanting children as a new reason for separation? Thank you <3

lilyg

will you consider adding the option to tell another sims partner they're being cheated on if you witness it?

Lilmiznormal

I might be a bit slow but how do we access the menu to access RPO?

Sheila Lobert

Not requests, but things to muse on: Sims who have decided they've had enough children already are immune to prompts, but should they be if entering a new marriage? I know a lot of people have had all the kids they want, but then they get married (maybe to someone else who has kids already, too) and they want a child that is theirs together. Also, should leaning about a partner's infidelity trigger some potential for changing their mind? I'm not sure on this one, but just thinking maybe they wanted kids but now they are not sure they want kids with this partner.

lumpinou

Heya! :) Infidelity and break ups already can trigger pop ups for changes of preferences, yes. So can getting in relationships. Good point about 'no more kids' re getting in a new relationship, I could unlock that particular pop up for those guys potentially
