Hello Moons and Suns (and legacy Stars / Superstars and legacy Patrons),

Thank you for being here, as always <3

Progress report on CPS Overhaul today, plus info on new RPO M1 features and a RPO mod user 'tool'.

Patches have wasted me a lot of time recently but we're back on track.

A./ CPS OVERHAUL / EXPANSION

If this is the first time you're hearing about this project, you can first 🔗check previously shared info and screenshots here.

-- -- -- -- -- -- THE LATEST ADDITIONS

I wanted reactions to be a bit different depending on relationships, for more realism, so adding these variations has been the focus lately, as well as putting in a few extra social interactions.

Screenshots are showing "work in progress", visuals and text subject to change.

EXAMPLES:

Depending on relationship with parents, children sims taken away can react more sad or more hopeful to both being taken away and being returned to their parents.

Depending on the relationship between a child and their returning sibling, they can be happy to see them return or angry.

Parents can share blame or sadness, the response depending on relationship, general context mood and traits.

Depending on relationship, foster parents are more supportive in their replies, or less. Here is an example of a foster parent's answer to a child sim using "Share Sadness about Being Taken From Home":

-- -- -- -- -- THE GENERAL STATUS

For reasons I don't understand yet, a key part of the "recover children" process (the agent's behavior on the second visit) which was fine before, has stopped working, so that's what I'm dealing with at the moment. The plan is to figure that out and fix it, to then be able to test the entire chain / process from losing children to getting them back, from the perspective of the same household.

The bulk of work left is from the perspective of foster parents. So much so that I plan on BETA'ing the "perspective of the household losing children" stuff by itself to begin with.

B./ RPO M1 - "EXTRA OPINIONS": additional semi-preferences

This concept is intended to fit various little requests and ideas on "family preferences" at large which don't warrant a full-blown 'positive / neutral / negative' - type preference system, but warrant something.

It will be finished and released likely after CPS overhaul is, or at least after CPS is in beta.

The ones available in your game depend on which RPO mods are installed.

SUN tier - Any other ones you'd like added?

C./ RPO Collection INTERACTION DIRECTORY

I will also be working on and putting out an "interaction directory" for RPO mods very soon. Basically a list of all interactions and what pie menu they can pop up in. For ones whose contexts are often asked, I could also have that info in there.

The idea is to make it easier for people to find specific RPO interactions (and to know all that exists in these mods).

I've done this before, But I think it's time to do it again and better this time.

That's it for today!

Happy Spring

For the extra opinions, perhaps there could be an additional "Against Home Births" to go along with "Against Hospital Births"? ETA: Also thank you for all your hard work! The interaction directory will be really helpful.

What about against woohoo before getting married?

absolute love! what about against fostering/adopting? could be against fostering/adopting in general (i know there are some people who would rather just not have children at all if they can't biologically have them as sad as it is) or against fostering/adopting a specific age group (because some people only want to if they can have babies/infants, or some people just don't want teens because they're harder to deal with, etc)

SimT2028

This looks really cool. This will bring so much more depth to gameplay.

I LOVE the extra opinion addition to RPO . I was thinking, and maybe you’ve tried this already, but a good idea would be to add specifics to sims who don’t want kids unless it’s with a certain sim? So maybe their preference is neutral or doesn’t want a child but with a certain sim they would be happy to have one? Just a thought for great storytelling! Thank you so much for all your hard work! Can’t wait for this Update

i'm so excited for this!!!

I just got a new laptop because my old one stopped working and was outdated. This new one I have runs mods very smoothly even though I get a last exception notification. But now I won't have any trouble with your mods and others in my game. And, I want to add some to my game right now, is any of your mods up to date, that I can use in my game?

How about "against giving birth if both parents aren't fully enthused"?

Eshanti Willingham

-A sim may oppose using a formula and want to exclusively breastfeed. If her milk supply is low and she must supplement with bottles and formula, she could feel sadness, guilt, and a sense of inadequacy whenever feeding the baby without breastfeeding. This may feel like a lot for some people. These are just my thoughts. PandaSama has a childbirth mod that could integrate these emotions more closely. It would be great if you could collaborate so these emotional responses influence obstetrician visits, birth, and the postpartum experience. This could also affect how supportive the partner is. I know I am suggesting a lot, and I do not want to pressure you. I realize you already have a lot on your plate. But it would be amazing if you, PandaSama, and deepindigo could collaborate and integrate HCR, RPO, and Childbirth Mod + Baby Shower. If the mods recognized these opinions across features, it would be incredible. I would gladly wait a year for such an update. -Sims who are completely against having children could remain firm in this stance and never accept or bond with the baby. This would only change if the player chooses it as the child grows. Eventually, the parent could accept the child during the toddler or childhood years. This could be optional or a lower priority. -Some Sims may strongly prefer hospital births with induction, epidurals, or medication. They want to be surrounded by medical staff for comfort. The desire to avoid a home birth could cause a fearful mood in the days leading up to labor. -Another possible scenario: a Sim is completely opposed to having children through adoption or is firmly against 'unnatural' pregnancies, refusing IVF or surrogacy. -A Sim might exclusively want to adopt and have no interest in giving birth or using a surrogate. This could create conflict if the partner wants a biological child and feels hurt by the Sim's firm decision. A disconnect could follow if neither changes their mind. A partner could hide their true preferences or opinions to maintain the relationship. They might only reveal them later as the relationship progresses. The Sim who withheld the truth might feel guilty and relieved. Their partner may feel betrayed, resulting in strained relations. There could be a pop-up, similar to the cheating event, that explains the reasons for the deception. This would allow further player choices. -Another scenario involves a Sim being firmly against 'unnatural' pregnancies, refusing IVF or surrogacy. Although these ideas introduce conflict, my main idea is that such scenarios can add depth by creating realistic drama and emotional complexity, depending on how each partner's boundaries and wishes are respected or ignored. I have many thoughts to share, and as an ER nurse, I am happy to contribute my perspective. Would it be possible to make relationship values a subtype of this mod, or add them to this mod? -A sim could be against a partner who is an adulterer or cheater. Going against their boundaries will cause an automatic breakup, though some couples might try counseling. For Sims with very strong opinions, the option to break up immediately appears when they witness or find out about cheating or a secret child. This ties into the broader theme. Strong opinions about children, birth methods, adoption, and honesty can become deal-breakers or lead to strained relationships if boundaries are crossed. **(That should definitely may be another one too, where this could be added to this opinion, but they are against their partner having a secret child or a child that is not theirs while they are together.) If one Sim considers certain actions deal-breakers, like having a secret child, they may immediately end the relationship without allowing reconciliation. Big differences in boundaries could automatically strain the relationship. This could cause intense discomfort, anger, or sadness when the affected Sims are together, making communication and romance much more difficult. I have more ideas for RPO and would love to contribute my medical perspective to your mod if you’re interested—whether that’s interactions, dialogue, or suggestions for authentic communication between partners. I appreciate your work and am excited to share further ideas. I love your mods and all the hard work you put into them! I have been silently supporting you for a couple of years. Now I really enjoy supporting you on Patreon. You are the reason why The Sims stays so interesting for me! Thank you for everything you do. After what I see during my shifts, coming home to play The Sims with your mods always makes me happy. Your work helps me cope. I truly want to give you my thanks.

I work with families days after birth I wish there was a not wanting woohoo after giving birth, being upset if their partner asks or suggests it. Sims who don't want to return to work, sims who can't wait to return to work. The need to more rest after giving birth.
