Hello Sun tiers (and some legacy tiers), Thanks so much for making this work possible and bearing with me through the good and the bad.

Today is a big jump, as I'm presenting the BETA (testing) version of CPS overhaul.

This preview is your chance to test out the mod in game and form an opinion, which you can share at this stage where things aren't fully fixed in stone yet and such feedback can serve to guide the mod's shape.

July 26:

fixed a recent bug causing parents to not be clickable anymore after losing a child to CPS or sending one away

fixed foster parents not always being able to adopt a foster child who had been declared adoptable

July 23: Fixed the "Report" interaction not showing in certain cases

If you want to try this:

1. TRY THIS BETA VERSION ONLY IN SAVES YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT.

This mod has functionalities that affect your Sims' families and households (it's rather obvious but is worth saying anyways), and because of that, so long as it is still in testing versions, it's best to be careful and not use it with saves and Sims that you care about. This until there's been enough feedback and trials to know that all is fine unsafe in various contexts.

Obviously I have been testing best I can to ward off risk of your households ending messed up, and we've done several rounds of small group testing for the same purpose, BUT this is still a "testing" version until playing by players like you has proven sufficient stability for the mod by playing.

2. MOD FEATURES

You can learn more about this mod's features and systems on the 🔗 description page.

3. FEEDBACK

If you try this out, you are invited to share feedback of any kind (design considerations / little requests, bug reports, etc).

For your convenience if you're more of a 'tester' mind, here's a copy of the 'what to watch out for' instructions I had given to small-group testers.

#-#-# THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO SMALL-GROUP TESTERS: #-#-#

To simplify things, here are a few things to watch out for:

report-triggered visit: Sim reports another, visit occurs. If false alert, cps leaves, if not, they act. Then Sim can try getting back children etc.

During investigative visit: agent noticing violence: if your sim yells at another kid while the agent is close by, they should react and give a penalty

neglect-triggered intervention visit: sim is starving, child services come, yell at parents, go to child, talk to child, offer foster choices, leave.

'send away forever' choice

'send to other household' choice

'send to foster home' choice

willingly surrendering children to foster home: doing so is on parent's menu when clicking the child. Getting child back, moodlets and notifications should fit that situation and not be the same as when kids are taken 'by force'

social interactions: foster children should be able to talk to foster parents about the situation in at least one interaction and get notifications back. Parents who lost children to cps should have two to three interactions about it between each other

occasional moodlets: for the first two-ish days of losing a child to cps, parents get occasional moodlets about it, and so do children

Interaction moodlets: foster families can get moodlets when having positive or negative interactions with a foster child

chance to adopt / need to return foster child: I will make a cheat so we can trigger these at will and observe if they're behaving. The cheat will also stay for storytelling purposes

declaring a fostered-away child as adoptable: the sims who lost that child to cps can do so by clicking themselves. Then, having the fosterers adopt that sim. The code is different if the fosterer is from the family of the fosteree biologically or a stranger, so both cases need to be tested. Watch family trees.

aging foster age up to young adult: seeing if when foster child becomes young adult, the prompt to decide what to do with them shows up always and if it works properly in all its choices

death setting: testing if Sims younger than young adult die of hunger failure, if parents are notified they'll get in trouble for it, if within three Sim days they do

A very important factor globally: AGE All these things have to be watched out for / tested for babies, infants, toddlers and child / teen. Each of these age groups has different mod code due to their different requirements.

4. INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS

If you're trying this, make sure you're deleting previous versions of Toolbox.

Installation is otherwise the same as for any other mod / same as usual.

Yay!!! So looking forward to trying this out! Tysm!

thank you! how would i report another sim to social services? when i click my sim and open the rpo menu i only have the option to foster a child, special actions, and settings.

I am having an issue after a toddler was removed i couldn't bring up any pie menus between the parents either way. if that makes sense. I had options when clicking on any other sim or objects but not the parents.

Juliet

Will the foster part of this conflict with LittleMsSam's Foster Family mod? I am guessing not, since it sounds like it works very differently, but I did want to check since I used that one, too.

Transsexual Tendencies

This is the mod that finally convinced me to upgrade my membership; love the work you do!!!

I've had one of my sims twice now disappear of lot and gotten a notification that they are bringing home a new family member. They don't; they just vanish and return after this notification. Not 100% sure it is from this mod, but it did not happen before installing it.
