Mod Updates Feb. 13 / Feb. 14 (Patreon)

Hello everyone, just a quick post to summarize three mod updates that were made today and yesterday.

Thanks very much for being here with me and much love to you on this Love Day!

CRITICAL UPDATE(S) - Must RE-DOWNLOAD MOD(S)!

Custom Moods for Some Game Moodlets: 

- Removed the "Disgusted" moodlets as the Disgusted mood needs to be re-done. Either download the update version of the mod (link above) or delete it, as the moodlets in question were capable of causing Last Exception errors if they ended up being dominant.

NON-CRITICAL UPDATE(S) - Re-Downloading Is Optional

First Impressions:

- Now offering different choices for the 'time decay' version. You can choose between impressions that last 10 days (original), 5 days or 3 days.Like before, you can also choose for impressions to not be reduced by time but only by contact and gaining other sentiments by downloading the 'No Time Decay' version.

- Efficiency improvement.

WooHoo Wellness & Pregnancy Overhaul (v2.21)

- Added two 'cheat' interactions to workaround that still not totally clear suspected conflict causing 'welcome / send away baby' to not show for some users.

Check the bottom of this old post or the screenshot below, for explanations of what to do if you have a conflict causing the "Welcome New Baby" and "Send Surrogate Child to Its Parents" to not show even when there is only one baby.

NOTE: for the "DEBUG - Send Surrogate Child to Parents" one, the child has to be a toddler, it won't work on a baby. For the normal interaction and for ""DEBUG - Welcome Surrogate Child", it can be a baby.

I have been working on the Adoption Module of WooHoo Wellness & Pregnancy Overhaul and will also be adding a few unrelated interactions / elements.

Hi, thanks for the great mods. I haven’t had an issue until now, my sim is pregnant but she doesn’t have a belly. Her chest got bigger but nothing else. Any advice?

What's the Sim's age? Are they pregnant for sure?

You could go on Zerbu's discord and check the pinned posts, there's tutorials there. The team is also helpful with specific questions (I also happen to be a member of the support team)

Is there a way for a child sim to not know who their father is? I have a mom sim who cheated on her husband and so the child lives with someone who is not her father, however, they have a relationship a if they are father and daughter. The mother lied and said her husband is the father, even though he isn't. I think it would be really cool if there is an option to question who her father is.

I’m having a small issue. My teen sim had a baby with a boyfriend but the game doesn’t recognize him as the father. I messed up and exited my game without saving so I went back and basically redid the storyline (teen sim has baby) the first time in the game I accidentally didn’t save they were both recognized as parents. However now even in the family tree it shows that the baby doesn’t have a father. In the sentiments panel there’s no indication that the male sim is the baby’s father.

For some reason I still can't get my sim to register as a surrogate :(

Hm. You mean register with the agency, or just be a surrogate once? 🤔🤔 Is your sim infertile or on birth control? What's their gender per cas settings? What's their age?

well it glitches when I try to register with the agency, as well as not letting my sim become a surrogate. She's not infertile, and that's set as default for fertility. She is a young adult, but i dont know what you mean with the gender per cas settings question

Have you tried with another household? 🤔🤔

I've tried with multiple households. Have even deleting old flies and old households to start from scratch but even with a brand new household no luck

Well that's a new one 🤔 Since this is not a normal issue, I have to wonder if there is a conflict. If you take all other mods out just for a test, launching without saving and trying it, does it go through?

Is there a way to turn off pop up choices for people outside of your household? For example... if my sim asks someone out (that isn’t in their household) I’ll get a pop up option asking if I accept or not even though I’m the one who asked? (Not sure if this is part of your mod or if it’s a different mod!!!)

Ask someone out is not my mod haha. But for your question - the sim that matters is the sim who is asked. So in this case the sim that's not in your household would be the one to need to have the pop ups off. Because he's the one making the choice. All the same, this is an important question. As of right now, I haven't included an interaction to change thus setting for a sim that's not the controlled one / the controlled household, but that is in fact a very simple thing to add and I will do so!

So I did a test and got rid of every other mod/CC I have. I'm going to presume the next step is to add a couple of mods to see if they still work with it and add more and more each time to see which one is causing it to not work?

Yes! I would also love having this feature included for NPC Sims outside households because it also bothers me if I ask another sim outside of my household to be in a non-exclusive or exclusive relationship, there is a pop-up menu even if this feature is turned off for my household. I would love this feature to be automatic for NPC's so my Sims can be more intuitive, autonomous and have more personality!

Open Love Life does not have choice pop ups. It is solely based on preferences and a bit of chance in that mod. Only Woohoo Wellness has the choice Windows. So there would not be pop ups for 'ask to be non exclusive' and all that no matter what. Regardless - in Woohoo Wellness I will add the interaction to turn pop ups off or on for Sims that aren't the played sim or household. It will be under the 'actions' menu when clicking on another sim

hey i'm trying to get a baby through surrogate and the baby was already born and it gave me the option to invite the surrogate mother over but when I try to ask her about the baby she is like "the baby can join your household" I can't figure out how to get the baby to be a part of the family. Also when I try to make my sim a surrogate they takae a pregnancy test and it comes up negative, but after that it won't let them go back and retry. It pretty much says "we need to wait on the results of the pregnancy test" so I was wondering how to fix that?

That should have made the baby join the household already, when the baby's already been born, you ask the surrogate about it and they tell you this and bam the baby is transfered. You ddidnt get the baby? 🤔 The test can't come up negative unless there's a mod conflict, as that is fully 'forbidden' by the mod. If the test is coming up negative it's due to a mod conflict and that subsequently messes up the system. You need to read this post https://www.patreon.com/posts/47251638 That should clear it up

Hello, I had a question about the WooHoo Wellness. I was able to select my surrogate and I got all the right pop ups. I would see her randomly in my game, but she wouldn't be pregnant. I got pop up saying she was ready to give birth and invite her. I invited her and she showed up not pregnant. No belly. I clicked on her and I didn't have any Woohoo Wellness option on her. I read your post to change the risky and the native to 0, but nothing worked. Any ideas?

Hi there! I followed the recommendation to turn off native pregnancy override and I still don’t have any options for surrogacy or alternative pregnancies :( do you have any other recommendations? if not I understand and appreciate your hard work on this mod!

What do you mean you don't have the options? You don't see the menu within the 'pregnancy and family' menu?

Just as a suggestion, I’d love it if my sims’ sister could register and then show up on the list for his husband to pick from. When I did it from her end, the baby still appeared as his nephew. A refreshing list of surrogate mothers could also be helpful in case I don’t find any of the moms’ genetics palatable.

It can't be that way as simply as it may sound on paper because of households. The game won't let Sims give birth on a lot that's not their home, or if a sim is at home but is not the played sim, the game won't let it give birth either. That's why the surrogates join the household to give birth and why it can't be a played sim. Because then they'd lose their household. The only way to do this would be by forcing the baby to be born off lot and then transferred, which isn't a deadly problem but means you don't get to name the baby and or will have a random name and all that. So, as of now it is the way it is. Adding a different type of surrogate npc which is forced ot give birth off lot to avoid the household issue and allow other played Sims to carry is not something I'm against, it would however have to co exist with the current system, as an added option. And would take a bit longer to make and you can imagine people were in a hurry to get the module and I didn't want to hold it up a week longer for this possibility. As for the list of surrogates - normally once one has been chosen and gave birth and all they won't reappear in the list and another new one should appear instead. There are also other ways the list can grow, namely, the more Sims talk about surrogacy before doing it and then go to do it the more the list has a chance to grow. To finish, I suppose auto culling of some Sims will also apply with time to the npc's of the list. So, if you want your Sim's sister to carry for her, your way to do this as of now is to play the sister and choose to carry for that sim.

From the other posts that Ive read, everything I have is fine. Ive downloaded Woohoo Wellness twice to see if I missed anything. Is it possible to do a video as to what it's supposed to look like and what Im missing? I even took out Wicked to see if that was the problem.

You would have to start the process over again with wicked out to see if taking it out did anything. To be honest I'm confused about what you are saying. So, you had wicked in game, you set native pregnancy override to off and you have normal version of my mod, correct? Then your sim asked for a surrogate. Yes?

That’s really good insight, thank you! For context, my sim’s sister isn’t part of his household and was also in a household marked unplanted - maybe instead of them being on the list it might be an alternate way to start the process by asking a specific NPC? But I totally see what you mean, I was definitely super excited for the module and would rather have it this way than not at all for sure!!

Yeah pretty much, it would be a different way to start the process and it would also be a different process. It's really not as simple as it may sound, which is unfortunate, but there are a loooot of elements entering into play, from how the game is built and what it will or will not allow, to how the mod is built, to other mods having potential to interfere and mess everything up, one of which is people who use mods to change pregnancy duration. The system as built now is the most 'trouble proof' with all these aspects as I could make it. In fact I have started developing that alternative I discussed with you (let's call it the 'playable sim as npc surrogate') but it truly gets tricky. It won't be compatible with custom pregnancy durations and will involve specific time frames and for the sake of things not going crazy the playable npc sim chosen by your sim would have to not have the 'surrogate pregnancy' moodlets but have the wishes apply as though it were their baby, which makes it recommendablr to not play that sim until they're done with their surrogacy thing. Well, I may leave them with the surrogacy moodlets, but there's a bit of an issue with doing that but I won't go into detail haha. So kind of with the system as it is released now, the hope would be that if a player wants a certain sim to carry for another, they would play the carrier and make them choose the carried-for, because it works in that direction, it just doesn't in the other direction - meaning that when a sim picks a surrogate it needs to be a npc. If it sounds like a headache trust me it is 😂

It does sound like one and honestly thank you for taking it on and being so open and understanding and willing to listen to suggestions! Even as it is now, it’s so helpful! And as a tip to those looking for better looking NPCs to carry or donate for your kids, getting MCCC and setting it to generate NPCs from your library is super helpful!

Talking it out with you gave me an idea that could help making it work a little easier so we'll see, but yeah, I'm not surprised nobody tried to do a surrogacy mod before, I knew it would be tricky business with likely some limitations and awkward corners but it's hard to accept as we always want to make things more perfect than they are 😂 but already this is something and it works as it is designed to. Which means it can be built on :)

I'm going to try tomorrow to finish this different way that would let the player pick playable Sims for a played Sim's choice of a surrogate mother. I'll just add explanations in game and warnings about the name thing... Then it's up to the player whether they'd rather go the module's standard route (either playing a sim who'll carry for a playable sim or npc, or playing a sim who asks for a surrogate and asking to a npc) or this different path.

I will update. Good to know about sending the baby to family. My surrogate could not send an infant. I had to find the parents' s household and send the baby to live with them while splitting my surrogates household. I am also taking a portion of the family's household because I am being charged for child support. Lol!

Just following up on our conversation of yesterday. If you look at the mod description you will notice a new little section was added - and the matching stuff was added to the mod files a minute ago. Use with caution, as we discussed it's somewhat tricky to involved playable sims in this process in that specific direction; I don't want to over-advertise it as I would like only advanced users who understand this mod very well to use it - but the option to pick any sim who can impregnate as a surrogate for the active Sim is now added under 'advanced'. Just keep in mind it's got the limitations explained in the mod description. Not to mention I'm the only one to have tested it as of now, so, you can see it as a secret beta if you want haha.

I have a question for some reason my game keep glitching and the grass is turning colors

Reporting back: only done it once but my sim’s sister did indeed carry and then return his husband’s baby! It’s still reading as his nephew and his husband’s son instead of showing as both of their kids like their other 2 via surrogate do but I can see how that would take way more than one day and one person to fix and I can change both that and his name with master command once it’s a toddler. All in all though, it all went off without a hitch from a functionality standpoint! I did get a last exception the first time I tried to invite her over but the second time she came over no problem.

It could have been any other number of things but that’s just the time it happened. Sure, I can! How would I do that? And it’s showing as his nephew in his profile - so Sim A, whose sister carried the baby sees the baby as his nephew in the profile but Sim B, his husband, sees the baby as his son.

Well, so B and A are together? The mod should make it 'son' to both of them but certainly guess because the nephew thing was there it didn't. I didn't start thinking about removing that family stuff, I'll add that tomorrow 😂 so you can email it or upload it on some site like media fire and share the link via pm its really up to you. Yeah it could have been a coincidence but I like to be sure :)

I might sound like a terrible human being requesting this: have you considered adding an optional miscarriage portion to this mod? I have a miscarriage mod already except I've had it activate all of once in my 1500 hours of gameplay? And there's no way to manually activate it. The only part of it that I would say I absolutely love is that it still shows the baby on the family tree afterward. I understand that it's an extremely touchy subject for some so I understand if you never do it. Just curious if it's on your radar for any point in the distant future?

In its early days the mod was supposed to have miscarriages but I decided against it because of LMS's miscarriage mod existing. But the more I go the more things I pit on the game and Sims and when a pregnancy ends my mods needs for a lot of things to be reset and removed which LMS's mod doesn't do, nor does it take into account pregnancy wishes. Because of that I occasionally think about whether or not I should make my own version. It is something I have been stalling on for a while for the sake of not making competition. If I am not mistaken Turbo's mods do miscarriages too so perhaps of being competition my concerns are unfounded as it already exists. If all you want is the ability to trigger it manually, you may request that from her, actually there may even be a cheat command in her mod to do that, I would think that likely as it is probably a piece of script. I will at some point think it again for my own mod.

The issue I am having in the new alternative pregnancy option is sometimes my sim gets pregnant with twins and after i send one baby to the new family, the other baby is still stuck there with no option to send the second baby to the new family. what can i do??

I love the fact that you are making an adoption module. I am using a mod where you can click on a bassinet and give the baby up for adoption. The child no longer shows up in the family tree but of course I know where the child went. Now that baby is a teen and my Sim has had other children since. So I have another mod where teens can flirt while at school. And my Sims teen son now has a romance bar with his sister who he doesn't know is his sister. I'm telling you all this to say... When you further extend your adoption module it would be great if somehow the parent could tell the sim they are their parent and do a possible DNA to prove it. Maybe there is someway to leave them on the family tree but they have no relationship to make it easier to reunite them. I know that would be messy to have several parents; adopted and birth parents.

Yes Sims are made to be marked at birth with who is their birth parent for this mod by this mod already as finding birth parents and all that is a part of the module, no worries :) it's all going to be in there
