Hello everyone <3

0. The last words on this week's patch

For those who missed it, I did update the original status post on 7 December. Feel free to check that page if you're still unsure about the status of any of my mods.

Really this time around the mod breakage that happened was for the most part due to one single issue which was quickly resolved thanks to the minds of Turbodriver, Frankk, TwistedMexi. So I am thankful for that.

1. RPO: SOME STUFF THAT WAS ADDED IN V2.962

I was tired on update days and patch days and didn't have it in me to write update notes properly. So, just in case you missed it, these things also came with v2.962:

- New setting: you can now allow Elder pregnancy

– new setting: you can now customize the chance of birth control protection failure

– new setting: you can now choose to allow asexual sims to woohoo (if you use my lgbtqia mod, you won't see that setting, as that's the default feature of that mod to begin with)

- integration elements for adeepingo's upcoming updates

- visual changes

There was other stuff, but I don't really remember. Like I said, I haven't been keeping track very well. I've been updating this collection constantly recently and it's easy to forget what I do when.

2. NEW MINI MOD

EDIT/ THE MINI MOD GOT A BUNCH OF ADDED FEATURES AND WAS RELEASED ON A SEPARATE PAGE.

When you want to know what's going on with another Sim mood-wise, sure you can use cheats and other interfaces (such as the 'view ' options in my "Sim info manager", but I figured some of you might enjoy a slightly more 'gameplay' way of doing that, via conversation.

So now, you have this interaction, in the friendly menu, under "deep thoughts".

When asked this question, Sims respond with their dominant mood, and information regarding what moodlets triggered and / or support it.

At first, I was making them refuse to answer sometimes, based on friendship, social context etc. But then I figured that this might be frustrating if you're just trying to have a quick and easy way to know something about another sim you're not playing. It gets frustrating in testing for me, so it might for you when playing. Let me know your opinion on that choice.

________________________

I don't normally do early access for small mods. I usually don't do it for small updates either (such as RPO update from v2.961 to v2.962, which didn't have any early access).

However, the new mini mod will have 3 SYMBOLIC days of early access.

This week, I am really tired. Not tired of you who support me of course. Tired from the patch, a little, but perhaps mostly tired by unsavory interactions. Literally got insulted in a foreign language for basically no reason, for an example that's a bit amusing. Tired, and sometimes feeling even worse at seeing the kind of messages or treatment that other modders get too.

Mind you this would be more okay if I weren't already giving everything I can to modding.

At some point, what more is there to give? At what point will these users just be satisfied?

And when I get to these thoughts... Well, I don't really want to skip early access, even on something that didn't take me weeks to make.

You are here, supporting me. So in some way, you must value my work. But here's the thing, here's the secret. I usually don't. Deep down I don't understand why you're here, what for, because most times I don't see any worth in that work I do.

I want to start valuing my work better. To value myself. For you as well as for me. Because your words of encouragement deserve to be better taken to heart.

This mini mod took me just a few hours. Yet - the knowledge it is based on is the result of three years of work, and the infrastructure that supports it took some weeks. I don't have to treat it like it's nothing, and perhaps if I don't, people will be less tempted to assume that what we do never takes any time, no work, no effort, that what we do IS nothing.

(In the grand scheme of things, ABSOLUTELY it is nothing. Virtual bits of virtual code for a virtual game. I'm not a doctor saving lives. I'm not building bridges and houses. It will never have that value. But it doesn't mean it has to have none at all either. When you're the ones doing that virtual work, you can't think of it that way, and you don't. You think of it in terms of hours and in days, in passion, in frustration, in excitement, in disappointment... in terms of life!)

There is another plus to doing this 'symbolic' early access, and that is, to show that it is YOU who keep me going, YOU who support me, and you who deserve the perks for it.

I am SO INSANELY UNBELIEVABLY grateful for YOU. Every single day ever since this modding adventure started. I cannot put it in words, and it brings tears to my eyes. You give me life, day by day. I don't believe I deserve the support I get, but everyday, I try to earn it.

Ooooh if elders can get pregnant will it come with its own set of risks and issues in the future?

Shadirah Shackelford

Is the package that’s linked down below the pregnancy mod?

lumpinou

Depends, what do you mean? Also it's a setting and off by default so it's not obligatory of course

lumpinou

RPO collection is on its own page, check the index. RPO wasn't updated today, it was updated on December 5

Kristie

"I usually don't. Deep down I don't understand why you're here, what for, because most times I don't see any worth in that work I do." Lumpinou!! You are way better than you're giving yourself credit for, I'm sorry you get down on yourself. But your work has SO much worth it's crazy. I wish I could have been a patron longer, and pay more, just to show you just how much I appreciate you. You deserve all the praise and adoration <3

JessieB

Like higher chances of blood pressure issues or gestational diabetes, or even loss. Since it’s an elder I’m wondering if it will just be more risky, and require more care like bed rest for example you can choose to take off and stay home or work till the end but working might make things more precarious etc.

lumpinou

That's very kind of you. I think many of us humans have issues of self worth. And those things are a constant battle. But encouragement and support from patrons have helped me in that fight, help me continue to create despite those thoughts when they come. You make me strong

lumpinou

Miscarriage has more risk based on age already so that should already be into play but I didn't think to recheck my own work to make sure lol, I'll do that sometime. The rest is stuff in Adeepindigo's mods but integration sure is possible if she agrees. Since there are also other mods allowing elder pregnancy, maybe there's already adjustments to take age into account Option to preemptively take off from work for sims with high miscarriage risk is a great idea and I'd love to add that!

Temesha Hostetler

It breaks my heart that for one second you could think what you do has little value. I get it because we are always our own worst critic. From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate you so much. If it weren't for your mods, especially RPO, I would have abandoned TS4 a long time ago. I'm a wife, mother, and full-time software developer. I have a lot of stress, and playing The Sims is my refuge and a means of self-care. It's incredibly valuable to me, and you play a huge part in that. I can't thank you enough. I hope you can take some time for yourself this weekend and recharge. Do something nice for yourself. Take care!

JessieB

Thank you, for responding and hearing me out lol. I never play with elders I think for this reason. So it would be nice to have another element about them

IrieGamerGyal Banton

You are appreciated more than you know or think. The Sims is playable without your mods HOWEVER, it is your mods that gives the value to play. Here's your flowers 💐💐💐💐💐..... Ignore the brainless idiots out there as they don't have as much value as your fingernail. We love you 💚💚💚💚

hushibe

I'm sorry to hear you tend to lose sight of the value of your work, but after lurking in various Sims servers for so long I can definitely understand why you feel worn out. Remember for every bad apple there are tons of us happily supporting you and your work! Hell, I haven't even touched the game in months and I can't imagine stopping my pledges, that's how impressed I am with the quality of your mods!

lumpinou

Thank you so much. Yes absolutely true we are always our worst critic I am happy that you have a way to unwind and honored if my mods participate in your stories. Hobbies are so important. And I admire you for being a software engineer! Keep on being great 🌷

campscamps

I really appreciate the work you do! Your mods are one of the reasons I got back into playing the sims 4! I'm so sorry you have to deal with mean and inconsiderate people :/

Bytentrix

Lumpinou, you are absolutely so valued and appreciated. I literally could not play the game without your mods. I am so saddened to hear that you don’t think your work is worth value because it absolutely it is, you’re an amazing modder. As far as opinion on the mini mod, I love it this is an awesome idea and I think making it for higher friendships is not needed, the option to click it is there and they don’t have to click it until they are ready anyways lol.

Christina West

If you ever need to vent, don't hesitate to message me! You might not be "saving lives" in a traditional way, but... the sims 4 helps my depression on my worst days. Your mods? They make it so valuable and a joy to play. A joy to interact with when all I want to do is crawl into a hole and stop existing. What you do has SO MUCH VALUE and I truly hope you do start seeing it that way. You're incredible and smart and talented- and every post I've ever seen from you makes me think you've got to be a very sweet person too! I believe in you! Value your work because simply as a human, you have so much worth ❤️

lumpinou

I am honored my mods get to be a part of your Sim stories Thanks you for the kind words (and the flowers aha)

Justine Maeurer

I'm glad you're taking a conscious effort to value your own work more! We patrons certainly value your mods, and I know many others get lots of enjoyment out of them even if they can't support your Patreon. I play a lot of the Sims, but it would be a different experience without your mods. I don't understand why people would insult or trash-talk you when you're doing so much. These must be the same types who yell at tech support and are rude to waiters, the type of people who think that others only exist to give them what they feel entitled to. Having interacted with a few modders, you are by far the most friendly and engaged with the community. I don't know how you aren't exhausted with answering similar questions on discord day after day. I've met some modders who are rude and dismissive to the point where I don't feel like playing with their mods anymore, but I really can't blame them for getting burned out by engagement with the community. I hope you're able to get some rest and have a breather from the updates and fixes. I'm no stranger to self-criticism, so I hope you can continue to feel better about yourself in that sense too.

lumpinou

I am humbled and thankful 💙 We're all just a person and both others and ourselves can lose track of that simple fact to ill effect Thanks for your kindness

lumpinou

Am glad my mods can be part of your Sim stories. I wish we could just all get used to and brush off random mean things but it's like, it never gets normal lol Thanks for your support <3

Wendell Gee

Um, you ARE a doctor saving lives. I don’t normally get this deep with strangers, but yesterday was the 5th anniversary of getting fired from my dream job (one that I moved across the country for) because I’m bipolar. I’ve played the Sims since V1 and I cycle in and out of it. But, since 12/6/2018, playing the Sims has really been a lifeline. I get to disappear in a world of my own creation. A world where I’m safe to be me and not judged harshly by others for things I can’t control, for being different, for being broken. I can’t pay you what I feel your mods are worth, but know that on the nights when The Ick is the worse, your mods make the game playable and that’s something I am SO grateful for. Thank you for taking the time to learn how to mod. Thank you for making playing the game an amazing experience. ❤️

lumpinou

Thanks for the kind words 💙 I'm glad you like the idea of the mini mod, it's a tiny thing but I think it's fun! I never know why npc's are doing the angry walkstyle lol so now they'll have to tell

Holly Tittle

You're literally one of the best modders. I can't imagine my gameplay without your mods now. Just know, those who aren't happy or complain are unhappy with themselves and feel the need to take it out on others unfortunately. If you ever need a mental break, just know your true supporters will be here for you :)

lumpinou

Thanks so much. You bring up a very important point, which resonates with me because I very strongly value fiction and stories and interactive storytelling not only ad a way to support mental health but also to become a better and more compassionate person. I do believe in the importance of all the aspects of that and as such I feel incredibly honored that I can be part of that process for others, such as yourself. Thank you for taking the time and thank you for your support <3

lumpinou

Thank you for sharing. I am sorry your dream job became out of reach especially for such a difficult reason. It is truly gut wrenching when this kind of thing happens. I hope you keep strong and that another good position will come your way again, one where you are accepted fully. The world needs to move forward re. mental difficulties because the rejection, etc, it all only makes it worse not better. And I am glad the Sims offers you a safe space to exist and create. Many thanks and best of wishes <3

lumpinou

You are right, non patrons also have been very supportive many times. It's just that syndrome of the mean voices always seeming louder, ya know... But I appreciate the kind words and support no matter where from and I'm honored if my work can be a part of your game

Sleepsalotl

Its sad that some people are so mean to other people. I really can't understand this. Even If they are Not able to See all the Work and time that modders put Info their Mods i often ask myself If they nerver createt stuff on their own ? Otherwise they would know how hard this can be. I will never understand people Like this. I am really grateful For your Work. You are my Favorite Modder. There is so much Detail in your mods and its so amazing what you are creating. Playing Sims is my saveplace and i Need it when i feel Bad. Your mods make the Game so much better for me, so your Work, For me, is really important. I am really sad that people hurt you Like that. You are an amazing creator and i believe an amazing Person too, based on the topics of your mods and the Love you put into it to make Game more enjoyable for us. And to make us Happy. Thank you so much for your Work. Your Work is amazing. I really Hope you will be able to see this. Thank you for everything and we are sending you Lots of Love !

lumpinou

Thank you We can all get short on patience sometimes when things aren't going our way, I can understand that. And you are right it doesn't have to be taken to heart. Deep down the problem is me and that these voices are but echoes of the one that lives within my head. But that is the way it is aha and the support of people like you help me day by day be a better person about it

lumpinou

Thank you. To be fully fair I think I let myself be hurt by things because they resonate with my own poor opinion of myself. I have to change as much as some other people might have to change The support of people like you helps me grow on this I'm glad you enjoy the game and mods :)

James

Thank you for all the great content ❤️❤️❤️

Nikki Rai

Hey, just want to offer a giant virtual hug. Life has been rough for me lately and the sims lets me get lost, but it’s only successful because of all the work you put into these mods. I’m so grateful that you share your talents to fill the gaps the devs leave. I’m so incredibly grateful for the hours you put into this, you could literally be doing anything, or simply making mods for yourself. So, truly, thank you

little critters studio

Hi, I'm a new patron but I've been following ur work for years and I love every one of ur creations. I can see how much love and passion u put into ur mods. I'm a design major and a lot of times we can be our worst critics and latch on to criticism more because it reaffirms our beliefs but it's good to always take a step back and appreciate how far u have come. admiring ur work in its entirety is my favorite way to encourage myself and u noticing the small things shows how much love u have for ur mods and the determination u have to give it ur all every day. I wish u the best, stay safe ❤️

hale

You're amazing. People suck. I love the work that you do, regardless if it's a mini mod bc your mini mods are fireee. I understand losing the sight and your motivation to get things done however the fact you get them done at all just proves, with full chest, your amazingness. Keep doing you and literally those harassers can go cry into their pcs. Imagine getting that mad and impatient over an outsourced mod that isn't even apart of the actual game. Besides them, we all love and appreciate everything that you release for us. that mini-mod is an amazing idea. besides your mods are truly wonderful and i hope you can come to see them as we do! there isn't an update where i don't wait till your mods are fixed first before updating my own game. "saving lives" is meaningless in your line of work; you are a modder, not a therapist or a lifeline. if they really can't wait to play/update their game for up to the 48hrs that it normally takes you and other modders to have fixed their content, they shouldn't download it to begin with. you go glen coco. mwah.

Simslegacy

❤️❤️❤️ it's so hard to keep ahold of the feeling of value in what you do. I spend hours every day working on my LP (which is just my hobby after my full time job) and every kind comment or bit of interest in my sweet Jack and Peachy brings me joy, but it always fades way faster than it should. Is it us, or just natural human nature? Darned if I know! For what it's worth I won't play without RPO and I sing LGBTQIAs praises everywhere (won't play without that either). This new mini mod is super exciting both for general FYI and for use in my LP. Thank you and know you and your work are valued 🙂

lumpinou

Thank you 💙 I'm glad Sims can be a positive force in your life too. It's such a versatile game and for all its problems it still can bring a lot of possibilities to people

lumpinou

This is so true about criticism and it reaffirming our own beliefs. Thanks you for your kind words, encouragements and support and best of luck on the design degree!

lumpinou

Thanks so much and best wishes for all your endeavors 💙

lumpinou

Thanks very much! You are right thy this comes as a side of sharing creativity in any form. We just have to keep going and keep creating for ourselves as well as for others. I am so happy your lp gives you joy and that my mods can be part of that

SimmlyNaima

Some of these alleged humans (lol tried my hardest to be respectful in this section) are very ridiculous and entitled. They drive me insane. I couldn't imagine being a modder. Its really wild to me that ppl are reaching out to you guys when patch updates happen as often as they do. I want you to know that I appreciate your hard work and creativity. All your mods are dope and I look forward to using this new mini mod.

Melinda

Thank you for all that you do! :)

Leatha 2021

Dear, please pay more attention to the people who absolutely adore you. Direct your attention to those who care for you. Block out those who entitled. Pay more attention to those who support you. Let the positive energy of those who appreciate shine through enough to ignore the naysayers. Thank you for dedication and time and effort. Your are forever cherished.

Amanda Garcia

I am EXTREMELY impressed by your modding abilities. I know that I could probably learn how to mod. I understand coding and patterns and have a mind for problem solving. But I lack the creativity that so many modders have. I love your mods. Thank you for everything you do!!!

Renée Cahl

You may not be saving lives physically in the same way as a doctor, but I wonder if you haven't saved some lives, really. This game is a game I turn to the most when I need to escape from life for a while, when it gets too much. I'm sure I am not alone in that. Mental health is just as much health as physical health and just as essential, and you help nurse us back to mental health. So it IS important, truly.

lumpinou

Thank you. I am definitely too allowing with the abuse because I'm just as quix to je mean to myself. I never ban mute anyone etc but t maybe I should, keep the air clean. Thanks again 💙

C2theC

Lumpinou... As an artist I understand not valuing your work... but I always see it as the one thing that keeps us humble. I was totally amazed at how quickly you updated your mods because from the outside looking in this patched looked as if it broke a lot of mods. I am grateful for you and the rest of the modders. I sometimes cancel my subscription to some mods just due to financial reasons but this week I resubbed to alot of modders. Thank you for all that you do. And this mini mod is chef's kiss. Now I can stop controlling the other sim just to see what's wrong with them. Thank you. ☺️

lumpinou

Thank you and thank you for still being here, you were one of the earliest ones to believe in this 💙

lumpinou

Thank you and best of wishes in your artistic endeavors 💙

SapsCozyCorner

It annoys me how entitled and rude some simmers can be.. people act like there’s not another human being on the other side of the screen, like they have the right to freely say whatever they want to someone and it’s suppose to be okay… it’s crazy.. I want to say thank you for the work you put in, I can’t see myself playing without your mods… I definitely see all the work your putting in and I appreciate it ❤️

lumpinou

Yes, we are all people and we all need to take time to recall that once in a while... Thank you 💙

Boudicca of the Southern Wastelands

My dear Lumpinou, what you do is *amazing.* Speaking from a personal POV, games, especially TS4 and TS3, have saved me from my depression. And the incredible work that modders like you do make these games an even more enjoyable place to visit and play in. You (and other modders) are incredibly generous with your skills and talents. Please always remember that! Unfortunately, the entitlement and ignorance of the work behind the scenes modders and other creators do seems to be everywhere. I see it in the college classroom, too. :( (I'm a college professor.) What you and other modders do is amazing and takes enormous skill, patience, attention to detail, and time. There are a lot more of us who see this than those who don't or simply refuse to see it. Thank you for what you give the sims community! I really appreciate you and your hard work.🧡

GlitrOfDoom

I also hope you can take these same 3 days to rest, relax and appreciate just how amazing of a modder you are. You are appreciated, greatly valued, and deserve the support you receive 1000%

BlushingCutieSimmer

You are Valued! And all that you do! Every detail you put into your mods make this more exciting and fun for us all! My current legacy fam is really the only hobby I am investing in right now, and everyday my "real family" asks me for updates...so without you and your mods, RPO, especially, which I will not play without, makes this possible for us all.

Moonchild783

I appreciate the work you do! You are valued and you need to know that. Don't let a-holes make you feel otherwise.

Sulpicia

Dear Lumpinou. Don't let rude people upset you. Please know that we, as your loyal patrons, appreciate your work and are very happy to support you.💜

Pinecone

I'm so sorry to read you're not sure why you have patreons and if your work has value. I hope you'll hear me when I say you're one of my fav modders. Your mods add so much depth and flavor to my games in ways I really missed before finding you. Please save this somewhere in your soul for when you're feeling low ❤️

Plumb

I have no idea what happened here, and since I'm seeing talk about a rude patron, I'm not even going to bother to scroll up to waste a precious second of my life to see what that person said. What I will do is hop on here and use my precious life points left to say that I love you, I love your mods, I love the realism that your mods bring, you belong on patreon, you belong on every single platform given your unbelievable talents. Period. *Edit: And don't you dare leave! 😳

Alessia Lucas

I usually don't comment but I want to say this: You are by far my favourite modder, not only because your mods are my favourite gameplay mods for the Sims 4, but also because of how you communicate with us. If there's a delay, you let us know and when I read these posts I always think 'oh it's fine she doesn't need to stress herself out over this'. I and I'm sure your other supporters as well feel valued by you and this makes a huge difference. So don't drag yourself down, you're doing amazing work! 💖💖💖💖 I'm a Sims Family Player so I honestly couldn't play without your mods anymore 😂

LadyCSims4Content

Aw, your mods are amazing and bring SO MUCH to the game. Without them there wouldn’t be that much realism to the game. I get frustrated with the game but your mods and other incredible creations from other exceptional modders like you keep me playing and enjoying the gameplay. You definitely make this game better and I’m so many ways. So THANK YOU for the time, energy and effort that you put into your work, it doesn’t go unnoticed. I hope this idiots don’t discourage you from creating more because you have a talent and I’m grateful I get to enjoy it. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. Forget these people. Unfortunately, there will always be some rude people that wake up and want to cause chaos around them because they’re going through something (misery loves company). I know it’s not always easy but please ignore them, they’re irrelevant. Thank you again for everything that you do 💕💕💕💕

LadyCSims4Content

Also don’t forget to rest and take care of yourself. It’s important too !

Shawna Jackson

I want to say that even in the grand scheme of things this is not nothing. It’s something you are pouring your time into, and therefore it is something. I’m sorry there are people treating you ooorly when you are doing nothing but giving up your time to help make someone else’s game play more exciting. I love your mods. I use nearly all of them. If you need to take a moment to just relax and not deal with the jerks for a while you’ve more than earned that right just by being a human being with feelings.

SoleySims

I’m so unbelievably grateful for you and all you do lumpinou!! Don’t forget to rest and take it easy. You have been a great joy to the community.

Liliin

You have saved the game for me, and the game is my escape when I'm tired of the problems in real life, but without your mods the game would be pretty much unplayable for me. I think EA might as well hire you. You were way ahead of EA with so many features (I kind of feel like they stole it from you tbh). You are so creative, and you understand what the players want in the game, what is missing. I wish I could articulate myself better, but English is not my native language. Because of that I don't usually comment but I had to let you know that I am so grateful and happy for the work you do. I think gaming is an escape for many of us and you bring so much positivity to that, so I want to say thank you so much! It's so frustrating that you modders get so much unwarranted hate from random entitled people who think the world revolves around them. Please don't take it to heart. You all make this game. You don't owe anyone anything.

Alaysa Kai

Your mods bring an ENORMOUS value to my gameplay. They're some of the first ones I always make sure to update because things like RPO, the Memory Panel, and so much more have helped me grow more and more attached to the little families I play with. You are one of the cornerstones of TS4 modders, and please don't let the haters take that from you or ruin your joy. You deserve all the rest for the hard work you have constantly been churning out. Every new patch you have been crushing it and working hard and wonderfully communicating with us Patrons. It may be hard when you feel exhausted or bombarded, but please know that for every negative feeling or comment that may pop up, there are 10x that amount of positive feelings of appreciation and well-being headed towards you. Please get some rest to take care of your health. We appreciate you 3000!

lumpinou

Thank you 💙 nobody here was rude no! And honestly being rude can happen, on a bad day etc it can happen to anybody. I'm sure I've been rude without meaning to here and there it can be human. But there is a certain way that a portion of the Sims community has with modders which is yes rude but also extremely exhausting and bad for self worth for someone already struggling with that lol. But it's life it's ok I'm glad my work ce be a part of your stories ✨

lumpinou

Thank you! Indeed teaching also is a field where you deal with this every single day 😱😭 but thank you for doing that work anyways and helping kids become adults Thanks again for the kind words

lumpinou

Thank you! I really should. I basically never take a day off lol 💙

lumpinou

It's awesome you can share your Sim stories with your irl people too! Thanks for the kind words 💙

lumpinou

Thanks, I really need to listen to that aha, I'm bad at resting 🙏

lumpinou

Thanks for saying that. You are right that if every life matters then the work of every life should. I'm glad you enjoy the mods 💙

lumpinou

Thank you 💙 EA employees do their best within the many constraints and limits they're given. Luckily us modders don't have these problems and can make literally whatever we want! That's why it's a joy to combine both the original stuff and the modder stuff in my opinion I'm glad the Sims gives you joy and that my work can be part of that :)

Peanut16

Please know that SOOOO many of us wouldn't play this game without modders like you. Your work brings so much more depth to my game and I truly wouldn't play without it anymore. I hope you can look at your artistic work and find the value as we all have. Thank you for what you do. TRULY!

Ayz

i am so sorry about the awful entitled ppl!!! you are one of the most generous/ helpful modders out there and abs do not deserve that

WallyWumpy

I'm sorry that ppl can be so cruel over a game. We as your audience want you to know that your work for this community DOES matter, and there is great value in it. Like someone above me said: "Many of us wouldn’t play this game without modders like you". It's a very true statement❤️ Thank you for all the work you do as a content creator!!

Ashley

i don't mean to discount your feelings by saying this, but please know that to us, what you're doing is NOT nothing. this game means so much to me because of the stories that i'm able to tell while playing it, and a lot of those stories are only possible because of YOUR work. you have given so damn much to all of us, please give that same energy to yourself. you deserve to take care of yourself & prioritize yourself. those of us that aren't self-important or entitled don't mind waiting for you because of the immense value you always deliver, but also just because you're a human being and we know you need & deserve rest. you do NOT have to give, give, give all the time. you do NOT have to tolerate disrespect. you do NOT have to put yourself on the back burner or work tirelessly for our sake, especially when some people in the sims community can't even show you basic decency. i guess what i'm trying to say is, you don't owe any of us anything. your work has so much value, that's true. but also YOU have so much value. i hope you are able to see that you matter a lot to all of us, and if that means you have to slow down and not pump out updates so you can prioritize self-care and NOT cater to us, that's perfectly fine! you take care of you, we'll still be here.

Thanks for all that you do. For the record, you matter a great deal - mod or no mod. If you ever need a break from this, take it! We'll miss you but we'll miss you even more if you weren't doing this anymore, for whatever reason. Also, I personally believe that there should be a way to block certain ppl who are rude from having access to your work, even if it was only temporary. :-)

verona

what you are doing is NOT NOTHING. my life is an active disaster, i couldn't even type about it without crying and you don't deserve some stranger's trauma dump, but just know my life is on fire but the sims 4 is my only and major escape, and thanks to your mods I can create a vibrant, queer world that I would rather live in than this one. Your mods have TREMENDOUS value to me personally. YOU have made a more direct and tangible positive impact to my life than most people in the world do. Those rude people should not get to loom oversize in your mind when there are so many more people out there who I know are like me, for whom your mods are their must-haves that they'll delay getting an expansion pack for because they're that important, and YOU, the creator, are JUST as important. Please know that from the bottom of my heart to yours!

MAS734

Thank you for everything you do. You absolutely matter, to more people than you may ever know. Trolls can go pound sand.

Robert Walker

I just want to say that I used to mod SimCity4, and EuropeanTruckSim2 etc, and of course when new updates, and patches came along, as well as user request to make this or make that (which I didn't mind at all) it can really burn you out. You do a terrific job, I wish I could mod The Sims but at 61 now, I'm kinda lazy and tired (lol) I started modding back when I was 40 yrs old. Keep up the great work, I love and enjoy your mods, and envious of your talent - though it's good to take a breather or 2. Have a nice holiday, and thank you again.

Inky

Exactly!! I came on here to say basically the same thing!

Kiara Breedlove

Your work is not nothing. Modders are the only reason I have continued to play the Sims all these years. Whenever I hear of a glitchy new EA Expansion, etc, my first thought is I wonder how the modders will fix this in a matter of days. You've already seen the possible issues and are working hard to get things to a point where the game is actually playable and enjoyable. Your work matters a great deal to those who love this game. Playing the Sims with mods like yours has been the saving grace to my mental health for years now. We appreciate you and all you do. Take care of yourself first <3

Ashley Brown

I cannot put into words how much happiness your mods bring me. I am an introvert gamer who finds so much happiness in this virtual world that you mod for. The Sims has always been an escape for me and I truly wouldn't play it ever again if not for your amazing work. Some people love sports, I love playing The Sims with your mods. Thank you for continuing to do this. I truly cannot thank you or sing your praises enough!!

Ashley Brown

The Sims is nothing without modders like you

lumpinou

The burn out IS real! Awesome that you're a retired modder and now enjoying others' mods and supporting them, I love that aha, it's like a passing of the torch ☺️

lumpinou

I hope happier days are to come for you, and thank you for your support and kind words

lumpinou

Thank you! I certainly need to learn to take a day off once in a while lol

lumpinou

Thank you both for your kindness and I'm glad my mods can be a part of your stories ✨💙

Jennifer LaFaso

Am I the only one who can't find the download?

lumpinou

For the mini mod? It's right under the banner that says 'links here' or sth like that

Samantha Jackson

Everyone has said what I wanted to express so well. Your mods are absolutely game changing! For instance, with your LGBTQ mod, my simself decided autonomously they were genderfluid and went through hormone replacement therapy. This happened while I was in the save file, working on setting up other families and such. When I popped in to check on my simself, I noticed the changes. This prompted a deep insight into my personal views and knowledge because I found that I was quite uncomfortable. I won't go into detail as the process was long but highly rewarding. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that your mods are allowing me to broaden my views on sometimes intricate matters. I'm learning things about myself and others. With all that said, the work you do is incredibly important. I am always impressed and extremely thankful for all that you do. So much so, that I decided to support you as much as I could through patronage which is something I haven't done before.

Dacia Yang

We love you! Thank you so much for everything you do. I'm sorry entitled mean people harrassed you. It's very rude! I hope that we can show you enough support to encourage you and keep you motivated. Also I want to say that your worth is not tied to how many mods you make. We support and encourage you no matter what! :)

Cathy T

would the inquire about mood mod work if you have not patched up to latest game version

lumpinou

You do have to use the very latest Toolbox version for this, and idk how that would behave in a pre patch game, sorry!

Sam D.

Hi dear Lumpinou. Our brains always magnify the one negative thing way over all the positives ones- silly brains! I hear a lot of simmers chatter on multiple social media platforms- your mods are almost ALWAYS mentioned as among the top "essential" mods- the ones we keep when we have a fit of frustration and dump 80% of our mods! You're not just a talented coder but organize information well, and have a deep insight both into the sims game itself as well as the kinds of game play many of us need to make the game feel really personal and satisfying. It's just a very special combination of abilities. I wish for you that you start taking in all this positive feedback, as well as allow yourself room sometimes to step back and rest for mental and physical health. I expect patronage to include room for rest and vacations, not nonstop work. We really don't want you to burn out!

lumpinou

Thank you! This is something I always value in stories and interactive storytelling. Sometimes it takes us odd places and brings new perspectives. As an aside however it is totally possible in lgbtqia mod to decide if played Sims should stay out of certain autonomous systems, because it can also be OK to want certain Sims to be a certain way and no other, but it can be interesting when allowing these things to happen to see the result and see what we feel for sure. I'm glad my mods can be part of your stories and thanks for your support 💙

lumpinou

Thanks so very much. I appreciate you 💙 I do not to learn to take some days off sometimes. The burnout has been near constant for so long, that it's hard to keep a protective shell if that makes sense. I'm so glad you think we'll of my mods and that they can play a part in your stories 🌷

Mystic Topaz Rings

Thank you! I can't wait to try out the inquire about mod!

lumpinou

Glad you like the idea! People on Twitter seemed excited about it so I'm also adding some more questions to it now :D

Cathy T

ok I just wanted to check before I placed in game.. I'll be updating soon as nearly all my mods have been cleared or updated. Thanks for your great mods

Neen

I'll say it every time I can: your work makes the game playable for me. Before you and other modders I've found, TS4 has been unplayable and irritatingly lowstakes. You and creators like you are doing the good lord's work as far as I'm concerned.

Quiet Crayon

You can't please everyone all the time and the wild wild west of internet doesn't make that any easier. So you shouldn't judge your own worth based on an internet that doesn't know you nor you them. There are many that appreciate your work as I am one of them. Cheers!

SulSul-Morgs

Your mods are amazing! I've been playing since Sims 2 and I wouldn't be playing daily if it weren't for your mods (I love family drama lol), I must recommend RPO, Open Love Life or the LGBTQ+ mod at least once a week on reddit, if you ever see a weiro singing your praises on there it's probably me! Can't wait to try this one out 😊

Gailt702

You say you're not saving lives, and that's true, but your work definitely has value. :-) Playing Sims 4 is one of my favorite hobbies. It's an outlet for my creativity, just as it's yours. It's my way to escape when I've had a hard day, relax when I'm stressed out. It entertains me and makes me happy. It improves the quality of my life. And your mods are a huge part of that! Your mods help bring the game to life for me and the rest of your supporters. Don't ever think that doesn't have value. So, please, treat your work and creativity like the valuable commodity it is. And please get some rest. I'm sure it's been a busy week for you. Take care of you first! :-)

gfvsims

You deserve all the support you get! Your mods are game-changing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work. <3

Wendy Hubble

A "mini" mod with maximum impact. Very clever. The RPO mod is one of my must-haves in my game. Mods like this really do add to the experience though too. Great work!

Melinda Cosby

I absolutely LOVE and support your work! It's sad people are being so harsh anymore. Without your mods the game would be boring. I apricate everything you do with these mods and keeping them updated.

Alicja Zarzycka

You are the only person i support on patreon and i do not regret it. Your mods are absolutely amazing.

lumpinou

Truth there! Thank you 🌷

Renée Cahl

Like another commenter said, I went months without playing and stopped about half of my pledges on Patreon, but I'd have to be done with the game forever and for sure (or lose my job or something) before I would consider abandoning my support of you. It is not much; I really wish it could be more, but like your symbolic early access, I hope its consistency remains a symbol of how much I value what you do. You are pretty irreplaceable as a modder, but more importantly, you are an amazing person for whom I have so much respect! I'm so thrilled to see the trajectory your modding career has taken and so proud of all you have worked through, and I'm so, so glad I have gotten to know you through this virtual world we share.

lumpinou

Thank you ❤️ I am glad my mods can be a part of your hobby 🌷

lumpinou

Glad you like the concept! : D

lumpinou

Thank you so much 🥺❤️ you are way amazing ✨🫂

spleegusboot

Your mods are so, so awesome - the Sims has literally been such a good coping tool for the SADs so you’re indirectly saving lives ❤️ can’t imagine the work/time it takes to do what you and other modders do! It is so appreciated!

Renée Cahl

Same! But I am glad EA hasn't poached Lumpinou; they would not pay her what she DESERVES, and they'd take away her creative freedom with deadlines and restrictions. (Though maybe she would at least get days off!! 😉) That said, I fully agree with your sentiment, and I wanted to say that your English is very, very good. Better than some native speakers I know. As someone who teaches emergent bilingual students, I know how difficult it is and how much work it takes to reach this level in a second language, and I'm quite impressed!

Sophia D

Why am I here?? I am a 35 year semi closeted bi woman and your LGBTQ mod was a massive game changer for my game! I downloaded it and 5 minutes into gameplay became a patron! It's the only mod like this that is constantly updated with new features and created beyond well! I use several of your mods and each one benefits my storytelling and I cannot play without them!

Renée Cahl

I'd like to add to that. I can imagine that in your mind (as probably would be happening in my own) when you read, "Many of us wouldn’t play this game without modders like you", the response could easily be something like, "My point exactly! So what if you don't play a game? Where is the value?" But hear me out: this game has a very niche type of audience; now, I'm going to use the pronoun "we" here with a clarifier: I know that I do not speak for all Sims gamers, and I don't use "we" to generalize to mean all Sims players, but I feel confident that this applies to more than just myself, so the "we" represents myself and any players who use the game in the way I do: we don't play to set a record or beat a boss or finish a quest; it's not a self-affirming, endorphin rush kind of game where we are yelling, "Let's goooooo!" through a dorm wall. We play because something in us wants to feel like we have control over some part of life or the world that we don't feel we have control of IRL. That means that, when we turn away from the game because EA has made it unplayable, we are sort of losing an emotional lifeline, losing a place where we can escape what is stressing us and making us feel trapped, or stifled, or judged or unseen in our real lives. The value you bring in making mods that keep us playing this particular game is that you are creating and maintaining a virtual world for us to escape into in which we feel safe to explore our own psyche and in control of how easy or challenging our lives feel and not alone. That last part is a lot of where I think your mods come into play. I feel like the Sims 4 (vanilla) is so much sunshine and rainbows that when I go to it as an escape, it almost makes me feel worse because I see these shiny happy little people who have no problems and no drama and can find love and friendship almost instantaneously with anyone, and there is a sharp contrast because my life doesn't look like that, and it can almost make me doubt myself, like I'm doing something wrong IRL. Your mods add chaos and chance and challenge to the game in a way that makes it relatable, in a way that makes me feel like I am not alone in finding the act of navigating the everyday world to be a little bit of a challenge sometimes. They also make it so I can control how much of that challenge and chaos exists to create my own, personalized therapy session, almost. As players, it's mods like yours that allow us to make this game into something we need, because, without your mods, the Sims 4 doesn't fill that need. Especially for those of us who have used games in The Sims franchise to help us cope with or sort through things going on in our lives for many, many years (and with the Sims 1, 2, and 3, now largely inaccessible for many of us and the Sims 4 being a mere shell of its predecessors) when we say we, "wouldn’t play this game without modders like you," we are really saying, "without modders like you, we would be without a coping strategy we have long depended on. You make our real lives better by allowing us to play with life through our little pixel people in ways we can't or are scared to interact with the physical world, and we love you and value you because you make the Sims 4 into a game that gives us hope and connection and escape and freedom and safe exploration." And more than that, you foster a community that allows us to connect with real people who are like-minded, and you show us that YOU care about us as real people, not just supporters. You have formed real connections with some of us, and I feel sure we'd all love to just give you a hug when you feel down, because we feel your care and support when our own lives gets hard.

lumpinou

Thanks, this is a very well explanained post and I totally see the truth in it. People have been telling stories for as long as people have existed, And they serve emotional purposes that go beyond simple entertainment. And I agree that this effect is drastically reduced or even nullified when the Story World completely gets rid of one entire side of the two sides of emotions / reality. I understand why EA did what they did, but also it is important that we have mods to Add the other missing dimension of Life, which might be sometimes negative stuff, sometimes other types of positive stuff, but in my mind positive doesn't exist without negative. Beyond that, I also agree that adding more options for storytelling of all sorts helps to create a richer experience. The Sims is such a sandbox type of game And we don't all play the same way, but also because it is a sandbox type of game, it has come to be a very personal thing to a lot of people, and I do see the value in that and in participating to that when I pause to think about it. But you know how emotions go, they don't always listen to reason 🤣 Thanks again for sharing this thoughtful post, Sheila

Lavender Honeybee

Love you and your mods! Please never stop! I will always stay a patron. You are thorough, quick to update, unique in the mods you create and make a massive difference in my Sims game. I can't play this game without you!

Lisa Shimabukuro

You are an incredible modder and I enjoy so many of your mods!!! They add a lot of depth and story telling to my game!!! I am sorry other people are so rude and impatient.

Wenelda Ruwyn

Your mods are incredible and I don't play without them! You're amazing and I love the work you do!

Candy ouzts

You are literally the reason I started putting mods into my game. You are an amazing creator and I am grateful that you do what you do!

Supershybutpushingthroughit

I've been playing Sims since Sims 2. I have used a bunch of mods in that time. It wasn't until you that I found mods that I find essential to my gameplay. If it's not loaded into the game, I don't want it. What you do takes skill, talent and no little bit of dedication. That is worth so much. They are so well done and extensive, you can tell how much time and thought you put into your mods. And it's not like you make a mod and finish. You are constantly keeping up with updates between patches, user experience and feedback and just requests. Some people are just so entitled and selfish and lack empathy. That's not on you, that's on them. They honestly may never be satisfied but that's because they're empty and lacking, not because you are. Others of us appreciate you so much for what you choose do to and remember that we only have these wonderful mods because you choose and care to do so. Don't let them get in your head and under your skin. You have value simply by existing and your work does by extension.

Liliin

Thank you! :)

Kimbo Jones

Thank you for the amazing work you do!

ChelleBelle716

It's been a busy month for me so I haven't been playing my game. I finally have time to update it and just read this as I was going about updating my mods. Playing Sims is one of my favorite hobbies. It's such a fun break and distraction from real life. But I definitely would have grown bored and lost interest in this favorite hobby of mine if it wasn't for you and your incredible mods. Your work holds significant value to me as it keeps the game fun and fresh, and allows me to continue finding much needed enjoyment and relaxation in it. You, quite frankly, bring us happiness. In a world where it can be very hard to come by. And what is better than that? Let the doctors worry about the health part - you keep bringing the happiness. I honestly cannot express my gratitude and appreciation enough for you and all your hard work. I hope you find a way to truly see and value your work the way so many of us already do.

Aaliyah Brewer

I am grateful for all your amazing work... im new to mods and your mods were the first to download and I love them!!! thank you for being awesome..

Jay

For society as a whole, most people's actions have very little impact, but for individuals, people can have large impacts. What may be seen as a tiny bit of code by others, is a massive improvement for me. Being able to see my experiences in a game is worth everything, your LGBTQIA+ mod is so important for me as a trans man. I value your mods so highly that, even if you didn't have early access I would still be a patron. I am honestly upset with the amount of toxicity in the sims 4 community and I have all the respect for modders who have to deal with it. I look at the mods you put out and I am so impressed, even if I was able to think up the mods, I would have no idea how to start. Coding is hard. All of us patrons respect the effort that goes into the learning and the tools to create mods. I pay for patreon because I respect your abilities and want to show my appreciation and if my contribution helps make your daily life easier, it's worth it. Your mods make me happy.

Aliera

Make mine your words! Lumpinou, for me your mods make the game worth playing.
