Two pages! Everything's coming up Ruckmearkha today!I hope Duane did not surprise you too terribly. He has his reasons. Well, I think we know his reasons. There wasn't much that happened in the shrine to change his opinion on Queen Sonorie - just to make him hesitate a moment before remembering who he is. And Duane does not subscribe to the popular theory that his brother killed him. He just doesn't. He can't. That leaves Queen Sonorie.Anyway, we'll get to hear all about it.

Did...did Bastion unintentionally take Darkest along for the ride? Seems like a recipe for some Star Trek-esque transporter body horror on the other end. *edit* As for Duane...I'm not mad but I'm almost not even *that* disappointed. Rome wasn't built in a day and realistically most people aren't going to have a complete 180 degree shift in their worldview in a day either. Not to mention I can think of a lot of situations more mundane and more traumatic where it's so much easier for people to blame a scapegoat than the one truly at fault. That said, it's definitely hard to watch other characters that he could've helped run out of time while he's undergoing his character arc.

Ah, Duane… on another note, WHAT has happened to my man Paul. Did he get yoinked along with bastion? I do not think bastion’s offsetting is rated for 2 people though. Hopefully he’s not disintegrated. And I guess bastion would be trying to get to the bottom floors where Roger’s body is. But you say this is the last scene with the both of ‘em this book?

Beautiful pages! Love the symbolism of Duane being blind as he stops Sette from saving the Queen. Also "What have I done" are good last words.

Oof, Duane reverting to his appearance as he died as that moment consumes him hurts in the best way. The frame where he’s desperately reaching for Mikaila as they’re putting out his eyes may still be my favorite frame in the comic and it’s instantly evoked here.
