Such a hateful little goblin."Shipbuilder" is a very, very old-fashioned thing to call a Sharteshanian. Even Sette doesn't know what the turd means by it. Sharteshane was founded by seafaring raiders and they still have a strong maritime culture. What else... lion's name is Jacaranda. Those are jacaranda flowers on his ears - his favourite - and apparently he put them on for Sette's sake. Maybe so he'd look less scary to someone not familiar with lions? A nice boy!

What I wouldn’t give to know what thoughts would be running through Duane’s head if he were here right now.

Those are quite the talons that negasette has. Do Settes serve a function in the ecosystem of the khert? Tearing memories apart and putting them back together?

Fitzy

hmmm... is "ship builder" just an archaic derision toward Shartes or something else? Makes me think a bit of the khert not having sway offshore

Whoa interesting. I notice Tirnasette and Jacaranda started last page with very ethereal coloring like smoke eels and squishes. But this page they seem to have slowly transitioned to more normal color palettes. Wonder the significance.

I legit thought those were softi flowers, not Jacaranda; not seeing the term previously doesn't help.

Feral Sette, is Feral. I like how the color fades out when they go for the attack. And by her, I'm going to guess the Hair Bird thing? Maybe? Something to do with Lady I? But glad Lion Bro stepped in. We finally got his naaame. And it's cool to see how Sette's hands could be in the future. No more bleeding like she's been doing. Nice, clean weapons.

Mr. Lion is quite handsome with those jacaranda flowers, might I say he's quite the DandyLion?

Renee

Safe to say settwo doesn't speak with a Shart accent then

L Anon

Is this goblin... a boy?

Madison

So I guess it WAS important that Nary wasnt just an asshole but a Sharte asshole

I love the little squish chomp. It's helping! The patterning on Other Sette's hands are also goooorgeous. I don't love poor Sette's confusion and terror 😭 What a brainbuster.

Duel of the Settes! And Jacaranda keeping his twin in check and being a good lionbro to his other-not-twin!

I know I said I wasn't going to speculate anymore but I'm in a speculative mood tonight. Wild speculative theory is that OtherSette was about to wholesale rip out Sette's memory of Sara, as a person. As to why, it's pretty clear that both Sette & OtherSette have some serious SysOp powers when it comes to the khert and memories. And if a soul is the same soul through all of the lives it lives and memories it sends to the khert, then maybe there's some sort of...ID or designation, for lack of a better word, for each soul and everything relating to it. And if OtherSette & Sette have super SysOp powers, then maybe they can sniff out those designations where Joe Average Wright sounding the khert couldn't. If all of *that* is true, then maybe OtherSette knew the soul that was once Sara and once formed a similar attachment, only to lose it. And now here Sette is carrying those memories of the same soul and OtherSette is jealous - this soul is HER friend, they belong to HER, not to this dumb baby imitator. Or it's much more simple and OtherSette wants whoever or whatever the hair-bird-phoenix-being is. *shrug*

I know you can't say, but I ache to know whether Khette and Jack are physical beings. Jack's glowy squish look threw me off for so long!

Taerjaga

My weird brain switched Jacaranda's name with Jicama (the root vegetable) and now I can't seem to switch it back! (I blame the salad I had recently.)

Ava

I'm so glad to see Jacaranda show up proper, after so many years bandying that name around from your old art wondering whether or not he was related to Sette, assigning it to her brother, and now realising he's related to A Settee, not /Our/ Sette is so interesting. I'm fascinated to see where you go with this <3 lu Ashley

Seeing Settirna/Khette/whatever wearing some sort cape made of hair/feathers and riding a lion reminds me of the parable about the clever girl that had to see the king neither on foot nor on horseback, neither clothed nor naked, and so on. Very scripturesque!

LordOfChains

Wait, did Sette-Prime’s skin color change too? Looks like the red part switched sides, and whatwas the red part went fleshy. DOES SHE HAVE MOOD SKIN?

Josh

Absurdly proud of guessing that "shipbuilder" was a super old-timey way to say Sharteshanian.

School of Night

Necro-posting, but it’s semi-Duane-related so, apropos. First Sette’s paws here make me think of Thorns, those fancy spellwright gloves. Just a trick of the light?
