Chea's off to see grandma, grandpa, and the goats, in case anyone is wondering why she's so smiley. She's also got her dad back of course, but... GOAT TRIP! Additionally, that is the old badge from the very first chapter, if you didn't recognise it. Elka had it shined up and personalized for her.

Okay! C&Ping the announcement from the update page! Skip to the --dashes-- if you want new details.

--------

After over 15 years, Unsounded finally has a publisher! The comic is going to be put to print by Iron Circus Comics, a very cool company that’s done webcomics as illustrious as Rice Boy, Lackadaisy Cats, and TJ and Amal. Pretty rad, right? Our tiny baby has finally grown up, and it’s all thanks to you, readers. Your support all these years helped the comic reach its end, and that’s really what got a publisher to consider it. So thank you.

Now, please, please head over to the Kickstarter campaign page, and give it a follow! The campaign will be launching in a bit over a month. There’ll be LIMITED bonus goodies - including commissions and free shipping - but you’ll have to act fast once it launches! Let’s get lots of followers on there before then, it makes us look sick and cool.

There are some crucial logistical things for current readers to know though. The most important one is these two books are NEW COMPILATIONS. They do not sync up with the old self-published books, and the old shop is coming down this weekend. Those old books are beloved, but now outdated. The NEW books - in addition to having new covers and newly retouched art - are LONGER. Volume 1 contains chapters 1-4 as well as a Duane in Sharteshane bonus comic (this is the old v2 comic). Likewise Volume 2 is LONGER, containing chapters 5-8, a newly illustrated Tainish guide, and a brand new Knock and Anadyne comic.

I had no choice but to recompile the books, my darlings. In order to get the entire massive story into 6 books, I had to squish more into the early volumes. I know it’s a little disappointing, please don’t be too mad at me. Compromises had to be made in order to ever see the entire story in print. I wanted to also publish a third book at this time, and even did a rad new cover for it to try and sell it to the publisher, but there simply was not room in their schedule for 3 huge books this year. To get the rest of the books, we have to make sure these first two sell well! So please consider purchasing them when the campaign starts. I really busted my ass to make them worth it for you! Even as I’ve been drawing the final chapter and epilogue the past year, I’ve been working on these books :)

---------------

I forgot to mention it on the site, but the new subtitle of V1 is "The Corpse with No Eyes." The publisher felt it needed a new subtitle to differentiate it from the self-published volume, and I thought that had a bit of intrigue to it.

I really am bummed I couldn't get that third book printed this year, but at the same time I'm pleased with the two new books. If you have the old ones, you know some of the dialogue gets lost in the gutters. I was able to fix a lot of that, and also replace the old covers that I never really loved. I'm also enamoured of the new Knock and Ana comic - it's funny and sexy and a fine kind of memorial to the two of them. They didn't get to have enough fun together.

Let me know if you have any questions about the new books! As far as I know, the crowdfund will launch at the beginning of August. I want some of you guys to score that free international shipping, and I definitely want you guys getting the commissions :)

I AM SO EXCITEDDDD!!!! To think that I've been here for twelve out of those fifteen years. Insanity. Congratulations! Can't wait for it to launch!

Jeremy Ball

I've got the Lackadaisy books and they are indeed sweet. I clicked the thing hard. It knows it's been clicked.

Fitzy

_bangs fork and knife on table_ BOOKS! BOOKS! BOOKS! Congratulations on the partnership, gonna be keeping a close eye on the kickstarter!

Madison

I need a commission. Or at least a hiiiigh tier reward. I am soooo desperate to spend my money on this!!!!! I can't wait for that Knock and Ana comic toooooooo!!!!!!! I hope Chea likes her goat trip :DDD Also, Emil looks good here. I like his more toned down clothes, kinda breezy. He's letting shit go, as he deserves to.

More information just makes me even more excited! The publisher sounds pretty cool from what I'm seeing, didn't know them by name but I have heard of some of their titles. I was gonna say August is so far away but hot damn it's almost July. I'm almost a bit sad that there won't be a Volume 4 to match the Volumes I already have because I've been looking forward to it for so long but here's to the next round! Six volumes will be quite nice, gonna be nice chunky books. Old Volume 1 was a tad wimpy ha ha!

Rifter

I've never followed something so fast. This is so exciting!! Take my money, Ashley! I'm also so glad Chea can be all smiles after the events of last chapter. Some of that must have been pretty traumatic. She's a tough girl!

JarJar

OH MY GOD THE NEW COVERS. My eyes immediately watered-- they are so PRETTY

jumanji-mongie

I’m so excited about the new book format, even though I know it’s not what you initially wanted. They’ll look great on my bookshelf!

The Clag

I'm incredibly hyped for the books and even more hyped for 4 more volumes! Congratulations! They'll have the most special place on my shelf. ;) Do you expect to get them out two at a time like this for the rest or do you need to slow down compiling them so you don't burn out as you start The Red Cost?

Renee

Looking forward to the kickstarter, and congrats again on landing a publisher.

Duke BG

I can see why you're bummed about the third book.

Flyfly

That Emil sure is hiding his right hand well. Anyhow, good news! Congrats. Now, to the questions... What are the limits of International shipping? Any place I can check those out? I wanna get some things either way, but I oughtta now how much of a hassle it'll be in advance. Also. You mentioned retouching art. Does that include Ch7 p66 panel 3? And if not, is it too late to throw at you additional money to include that? ( I jest, of course. Unless... )

Wambling Wombat

Coming in at 11:15pm PDT and I’m follower 420. Good omen.

CD

I like how you think this announcement would disappoint me rather than feed my "SHINY NEW EDITION" shopaholic retail therapy monkey brain >> This is how one ends up owning multiple editions of LotR... So cool, though! 'Grats on the publisher!

Benjamin

Oof, seems like Toma did lose that arm. But hey, it's all good, because GOATS!

Miquashi

How much do I have to save up for one of those commissions spots? <_< I like thinking that my old books are like a rare find years and years from now nerds will be scouring the web to get their hands on even holding one. W

Lulululu

The news about the new books being different... you though this would be disappointing? In one fell swoop, without me even having to do anything, I've gone from merely owning the Unsounded print volumes (already very nice, don't get me wrong) to being a smug little snob who is in possession of never-to-be-seen-again Unsounded First Editions (or something like that)!

Spider

I used to love playing Mancala as a kid!

Iniquit

Super excited for you, Ashley! I'm so glad that Unsounded has gotten a publisher on its own terms, and can't wait to do my part when the Kickstarter launches!

Rainwalker

Soooo excited for the new print run :D and Chea is looking so happy, this warms the soul

Josh

Oh hell yeah. This is really cool news. Wait, what's disappointing about recompiling the books, though? Squishing more in... is good, right? Like, we'll get to see more of the story in print. Am I missing something? (Also I'd like to join the chorus of people cackling to themselves that they now have collectible first editions; wish I'd got me hands on Volume 2, but, glad I've got 1 and 3 anyway, for the bonus stuff especially.)

Karvil

Cool, getting ICC to do the heavy lifting. Only note is, having seen lots of Iron Circus Kickstarters: when they say limited time for the special on shipping they mean it; on their others, it runs for literally just one hour after launch, and they always launch at noon est on weekdays/workdays. So, better hope you have the day off or work a job you can steal some time to back if you plan to. Also, they do earlybrids as specific tiers, not my tracking the time you register. That's why I don't have the early bird for their current campaign, despite backing during the time frame! Kickstarter moved the tier list while I was backing, and I didn't notice I'd picked the wrong tier. And non-Americans couldn't back for the first 20 min due to all the tiers accidentally begin set to USA only, but that shouldn't be a problem again. ICC seems generally decent, but the way they do earlybrids is frankly kinda nasty, honestly.

idonotlikepeas

Oh, hey, they're playing mancala! Technically one of the first games I ever implemented on a computer (as a class assignment).

GracieV

Does asking for a notification equate to following? Because I don't see a specific "follow" button to click. Thanks

BansheeClause

Put in a last order on the old store. Gonna miss it, but am very excited for the kickstarter
