I got a lot of Big Feels when it comes to trying to connect with your family after being the first one to manage to go to college. All of Duane's affectations he developed to help him deal with a more privileged class of people just come off as a superiority complex to his fam.

Leave his nose alone though, Lem, we can't all have petite fey features and perfect hair and two swords.

I've had those expressions Lem's showing, pretty much in that order.

'Hulgren'. Is that a Tainish name, or just a random one, possibly nabbed from real life? Seems like it could be Norwegian, as it means 'hollow branch'. (Also, the bg children statues just keeps getting more ominous.)

I was the first one to get a degree, but... well... when someone else in the family is the first to become a brazilionnaire it loses its thunder. :D

MAN YEAH THAT'S RELATABLE.

Being the first in the family to get a degree can be rough. You could speak with the same dialect as before around your family, and they will *still* call you a pretentious wanker.

Yep, big feels about being the first in the family to graduate from college.

I would think one's family would be enormously proud of the first in the family to get a degree. In my family it was just expected... There would have been trouble if we hadn't done it. (Not that it has helped me much professionally.)
