There's some pretty good information at the top of the page, and then it gets derailed :3

I really like keeping the Big Picture stuff in the background as much as possible, and focusing more on the personal relationships of characters. When they run first-hand into the Big Picture stuff, then it'll be made more explicit for everyone's benefit.

I've been thinking lately about my instincts when it comes to structuring Unsounded. I don't know if they're good or bad, but they're definitely informed by how the vast majority of us experience politics and international imbroglios. And that's as news soundbites that we navigate around while living our day-to-day lives. So I try to plant these little newsclips here and there throughout the story. They're not really what Unsounded is about, but they're in the background, like the television in a waiting room.

Exposition in the background, without feeling like exposition, is both difficult and rewarding. I like the way you 'let things slip' casually. It doesn't feel like voiceover narration :)

I for one devour background information. I love it, because it gives me the feeling of a great story construction. I also like how the characters deliver the background information because 1. you are doing a good job speaking in their respective voices and 2. it shows us how they see their world, which adds depth to the characters.

Speaking of stuff in the background, what’s going on in panel 5? Is that just some visual metaphor of Hetr vs. Sonorie, or is this torture tent about to be breached by ...something? (and if so, how would Baldy not notice that?)

It's the stormfolk outside, silhouetted by a sudden flash of lightning. Doesn't mean anything, just looks dramatic :)
