People ask me all the time if Elka is a self-insert and she's NOT - but she does share a habit I have of using humour and goofiness to cheer people up. She tried it here by trying to joke about her scar, not realising that's a sore point with the Captain, who feels directly responsible for absolutely all of this. She'll fix this though.
