Sharteshanians aren't used to such casual acts of mercy. Sette expected this girl to tell her to suck it up, get over herself, and keep walking - not do anything as simple or as kind as suggest an alternate route. It's a pretty tiny thing but she's a little dumbfounded.

Sette was scared of the skulls when they first arrived at the shrine too. She made an excuse to double back and look for Duane rather than have to follow the other kids inside, past their eyeless gaze. The first thing she saw when she fell into the khert and went digging, as well, was the memory of an ancient twin sacrifice ceremony. Weird~

I feel like this is gonna be a page we look back at in like 5 years with a whole lot more understanding. Something is going on here.

Odd that the skulls in her crossed out memory have teeth liker hers, and some kind of animal skull is included. And a peculiar S with what appears to be a tail added on... very interesting symbolism or actually literal?

We know that Minnow used a very peculiar wording "not (that) particular Sette, but we've met before", we've seen a wee Sette cub in khert and now you're pretty much hinting on the fact that Sette has dead twins. Probably not just two copies of the Sette, but an arbitrary large amount of Settes exist/existed/will exist. That would explain Minnow's wording.

Also, after rereading a lot of chapter13 just now and it looks like Ruffles changed colour since.
