Smooth work there, Miss Frummagem.

You know, I must have written this scene a dozen times. It was always either too explicit, or too vague. I'm still not sure I struck the correct balance.

Sette's obviously *moved* Duane's thoughts - or his heart, if you like - but to what extent and with what amount of success is not clear. He still seems like himself, but "You make no sense!" he said. She's muddled him, distracted him, dominated him.

This isn't prose, I can't describe in the comic what his state of mind is like at the moment, and I'm not a fan of him verbalizing: "I'm so confused, none of this feels right" again and again, particularly through the upcoming scene. But that's where he is right now. He knows this isn't right, but doing anything about it feels beyond his capabilities at present. And part of him distantly knows that Sette is to blame, as he makes clear here in the last panel.

But! She doesn't care. She's going to get what she wants. At least temporarily.

Has Sette ever used the amulet subconsciously on Duane or does it need a concentrated effort? I feel as though Duanes behaved like this before outside of the times Sette explicitly used it. I feel like this may be best directed and the Q&A tumblr but i aint got one

This will definitely work out for the best and not bite anyone in their betailed posterior later.

Did Sette actually use the Gizmo here? A part of me wants to be more impressed that she managed an actual compromise in locking up the priestess to deal with later.

Moving up the to-do list: liberally apply antiseptic, every kind of bug repellant, deoderant, inside and out. Hell, just embalm the corpse already...

I love that she slams the door at the end. She’s successfully blocked the two forces—Duane and Lori—that could immediately disrupt her upcoming performance. She’s razor-focused on getting what she wants at the moment.

Is it too spoilery to ask if "the gizmo" is based around the concentrated elixirs Delicieu would create? You said it wasn't a pymaric, so maybe concentrated "submission" by Bastion?

Her last line is just beautiful. I'm saving it for its many real-life uses. As for the narrative... Well, this is why stories (those written for adults) about children with "powers" are nearly always horror stories.always
