Little bit to be read into this.

Elka scores the bricks-to-the-head shot which would have disabled if not killed a living person.

She also throws the bricks in a manner that we've seen Duane do before (this is one of his favourite moves as he advocates for expertly done basic techniques) which immediately endears her to him and is probably why he goes for the disabling choke over something more brutal.

This page was so, so fun to draw because it's really just two expert battlewrights shaking hands and saying hi~

Wonderful page. Elka remains my favorite of all time, but I do love seeing Duane really get to flex his magical muscles from time to time. That elevator cut was just beautiful, it wasn't until the second read that I noticed he didn't just cut it, he made the edge of his cloak hard and sharp.

so this may have been brought up before and I could be reading too much here but its seems to me Elka had some glamors in addition to her protective augments? Her design looks a lot different then when she was introduced. also Duane better chill here Elka x Emil should not be jeopardized.

Focusing on simple stuff is just good combat policy. When moments are precious, one cannot afford to waste time building up complex spells.

What are the chances that Quigley yells "don't fight her, you imbecile"? Anyway, it's a very interesting situation, whether they are friends or enemies.

The offence and defense talk is also interesting, because we've seen Duane use the bricks defensively as well, to block crossbow bolts
