In case you couldn't tell on the last page, the Chief is no kind of combat wright - she's an engineer. Not too complicated a maneuver to clock a dad in the head when he's suddenly panicking over his son though. She can't stick around and finish him off, fortunately. Chief's a little concerned over the fact that the headmistress has a self-destruct spell in a safe for occasions such as today, and who knows if she's feeling twitchy enough to use it. Chief needs to get her people evacuated noooow.

I had wondered how Quigley would react to that info, but decided it really wouldn't have changed his plans - probably would have encouraged him to move a little faster, even.

The Clag

The question is did Erm(?) call him an inhuman monster because he's a Plat or because he's Mathis Quigley? Does your government magically fucking with your genetics make you a monster or just incredibly unlucky?

I wonder what her feelings would be if she knew that the self-destruct spell is now in the hands of some rebellious teenage two-toes? But yeah, as if the situation wasn't already complicated enough, I wonder how this spell is going to factor into it...

The man with bug spells, defeated by flying hearts, what a world.

My brain definitely filled in little tweetie bird noises for the hearts over Quigley's head.
