"I'm sorry" are the cheapest words in the English language and Duane respects language too much to use them. Calling out his own weakness for cleaving to ideas he's *always* known were wrong, and then swearing to find God; find himself; find truth; is what a real apology sounds like from him.

Of course it's also terrifically self-concerned and Mistress Lori doesn't have the stomach for it, so Duane's lucky he doesn't get a shoe in his face.

But there's not too much time for a real heart to heart, so this will have to suffice for now!

Thats the funny thing about believing in destiny. Someone might have been "meant" for something more, been raised for it, trained for it. But in the end they might die just the same as a pauper. just as everyone else might if their cards fall wrong, despite any "grand destiny". However, if there is a grand design to this world(which there is from a meta perspective, but lets ignore that) then these girls deaths were indeed meant as a lesson to Duane Adelier and the rest of the survivors, for there is precious little other meaning in their deaths.

…says the lady farming kids for sacrifice. She’s not wrong, but she’s not better either. I think they both need to go sit in opposite corners and Think About What They’ve Done.

Thank you, Elka--so straightforward, so uncomplicated, so refreshing. And happy page 100 for this chapter! (it just occurred: I can't think of anywhere I'd rather NOT be than Thanksgiving dinner at Lytria Shrine. So. Awkward.)

Holier than thou Quigley and Lori make my dick itch. Both of them have shit records when it comes to murdering various babbies.

He speaks! And he's saying much of what I hoped he would. It's been a long road for Duane, and he's just beginning to make the right turn. I don't even want to think of how much IRL time has passed, it'd make me feel old and I'm not quite 30.

As well and poorly as our actors have acted, on this page they are being as honest as their natures allow, and more importantly listening. There is the possibility of improvement.

I imagine a grave cinematic pause between "I intended none of this" and "I made a mistake." So much weight in that- a long road for Dwayne, indeed.

What's that English language you are talking about? Do you mean Western Contintenal?

Rion Boom Crabhands Keon

Gods, Dwayne, the only hollow thing is your skull! Well, filled with bilge water and bugs right now.
