It's been very easy to overlook our wee betailed, ostensible deuteragonist as the stormcloud that is Duane has blown and roared across the page. It's been even easier for Duane to do it. He's never really given her a second thought... and the minute he perhaps began to, what happens but his old demons explode back into his life. Kinda convenient. And maybe too late to do anything about now.

Ooooooof

So Quigley might be chasing Sette mightn’t he. I’m quite sure he’s also the same man he’s always been- ready to throw everyone but himself under the bus. But you know, I never imagined Lady I meant that… I got swept in Duane’s cloud, too.

Manic Raven

Huh. So this whole time Sette was trying to convince Duane that he was her escort while intending to escort him instead, it turns out that her lie was the truth. That's a neat bit of irony. It's wild how you've managed to pull the wool over our eyes (or mine at least). What's so special about Duane that Ilganyag would need for him to go here or there and do this or that? Why would she want him to try to stop the Silver when she wants Prakhuta to guide it? What's his quest been building to this whole time? And we knew that Sette was important to her somehow. But like him, we've been so caught up in his issues that we didn't realize that he's not the answer to the puzzle, she is.

This is making me think the real goal wasn't for Sette to get Duane here, but the opposite. A double fakeout: he thought he was escorting her, she thought she was delivering him wherever it was the letter said, but he was actually unknowingly delivering her here? Where Quigley is now positioned to drag her to the plod factory... It makes a lot of sense, given we know she's connected to Lady I in some way, if Lady I was only ever using Duane to get to her.

THE EYES, BOO! GO FOR HIS EYES!

There’s a lot going on here but I feel like Duane not murderkilling the blue lizard is going to pay off down the road

I had hopes that the "relying on being the man he's always been" was going to be flattering for Duane, but no, alas. It's not. Also love the callback to the title of the first chapter.

As a big-time Sette enjoyer I have to say, this page... man. SETTE ;_;! Cutter's just been great these last few pages, though. He's working so hard on advancing his villain arc, he's had some really cool poses, and now he's keeping this stoopid spiderpaw on-plot for the season finale. Total dedication to the craft.

I think I’m feeling anxiety at the sense that the story is moving toward its conclusion. Even more than at the dread of whatever horror-show finale the resolution to this story will provide…

Ashley, is there a safe word we can use? ;_; I love Sette and don't know I can stomach what these next few pages have in store for her.

...to which Cutter might say: no matter who's the protagonist, deuteragonist, tritagonist, tetartagonist or pentagonist, I have enough agony for everyone!

Ive always loved sette, I’ve saved pages in a folder on my computer that point towards her origins. I am so excited to finally get a deeper look into where she came from and the mysteries that surround her. I’m even more curious about how much she knows.
