Sette hasn't gotten this far in life by being so easily manipulated. She's a Sharteshanian and a Frummagem. Whatever *else* she may be, she's not going to be made to do anything she doesn't feel like doing. That includes helping, fighting, remembering, and mourning.

I know this is all frustratingly vague, but we're getting there.

SETTE WAS A TWIN TOO?!?!

acloudwithfeet

You know in a setting where your bad memories can't take physical form and constantly remind you of your most traumatic memories I would be frustrated with Sette, but in this reality, her approach to these things seems the most healthy in comparison. This is why Toma is the coolest character, these things just don't happen to him.

Settes lion twin isn't so interesting to me as the idea that she's going to forget Sara by literally ripping out her memories. Also interesting that settes apparent abilities are similar if perhaps less destructive than, the black tongues soul knife

Mister Scarecrow

"Frustratingly vague?" Down right maddening now. (: Sette's shadow is stretching longer and longer. Her struggles have always seemed to be linked to the smaller details of the larger geopolitical tableaux, she's important for us, but the larger scale of everything else felt well beyond her. Her struggles for dear ol Da's approval, her struggles to fit in with the other kids, her relationship with her new dead-man Da. All touched with hints of larger assuredly eldritch things, but this? This is a turn. And I have so many questions I need answered.

Mister Scarecrow

Honestly, with these new angles of Sette falling into place, I might have to agree with her. She is the best liar. Or can cut out the un-useful, truthful parts that make the lying harder.

Fitzy

As satisfying as it is to see Sette tell these ghosts to F off, their reaction to their pain is healthier than the silver ghosts. They're not lashing out with intent to cause pain, they're seeking help from the only source they really know of.

Uuuhhh... Sette and her brother as Tirna and Yerta. Interesting role for him. She killed him to destroy the world? He keeps the world and she destroys it? Or, more likely, it is not quite like this, but their story got twisted somehow and ended up as the Yerta-Tirna story that is told now...

Plucky Pariah

Sette's face on panel five reminds me a lot of Quigley's when he was "gifted" with peace in Chapter 16...

Fabricated

Well, it explains Nary's frustrations with her. Bad memories teach you things and if you can just rip them out, you're essentially dooming yourself to screw up the same way over and over and over again- because you never change.

Is this why Sette never grows up? Because growing involves learning lessons and that can't be done if you never remember them?

School of Night

I knew they couldn't keep the Empress of Settetania down for long.

Haul wankers about by their yesterdays... I love it, its genuinely a beautiful phrase

She ended worse? And with that intense red of her eyes! Visual language is speaking to how Serious this is. My heart is POUNDING.

I think this is the first time in all the years I’ve been following this story that I’ve been afraid *of* Sette. Stupid of me, I know…
