I don't know why it has never occurred to me to do so before, but I should have done that with every chapter - every time somebody complains about the pacing, I remind them that any such issues pretty much disappear when you're reading it as a finished work.

Let non-combatants flee? Did our blue shield-bearer's encounter with Duane change his views? I re-read the entire Unsounded semi-annually and it is quite impressive how your art has progressed from early days. Mind you, even a decade(?) ago that art style and story absolutely hooked me.
