Oh to be as calm and well-disciplined as Pantoffel when bodies fall from the sky. But it's a really bad time to be a sane Soud when your comrades grow suddenly curse-drunk. Imagine deciding if your chances are better to play along and crash into the building, or refuse and get thrown overboard and hope you land in a tree. In an early draft I let Duane see this guy and save him before he hit the ground so he could deliver some exposition, but that exposition was given to someone else. Sorry, pilot!

It's raining men...

Duane getting a handful of cold metal titty on that second to last panel, huh.

...think the giant serpent snake is gonna have opinions on their best friend and human getting thrown overboard?

I take it that the pilot wasn't sufficiently "patriotic" enough to go along with the 'Crash the Vliegeng and everybody on it into the tower' plan his colleagues were cooking up.

I wonder what the story of this pilot is/was? Because IIRC Ashley wrote that Soud vliegeng pilots are very rare (due to their low caste and because they don't live as long as a vliegeng), and Lemuel only got a chance because Diva's original pilot was killed and she wouldn't let anyone approach her except (after much coaxing) Lemuel?

Duke BG

I see Knock is following them for now, even though they're going to the manor and Ana has gone to the khert hub tower

Robert Vernon

@Rob I think one of the hopes Duane had with his career was for it to open up more opportunities for souds. Looks like Lem succeeded there!

Flyfly

It's funny to imagine Quiggs losing the track of his Silverfish quest too kill Foi-Hellick.

Rainwalker

I do wonder what Quigley and Matty are up to now~

HandsomePenguin

Elka is about to chop off a zombie hand.

on a more serious note, this can't be the full etelarch. iirc you need to be in range of a damakhert hub? unless they're hacking the dirt baby spine
