I've not seen this so this is all hypothesis. The way I interpreted Skinny's alien is that the alien is psychic and was hypnotising the other little aliens to get it food. The bigger psychic alien stole it's hyponotised little ones so it had to find someone else. That ended up being Skinny. I'm not sure why it can't seem to get it's own food, maybe it can only see shades of light? So it hypnotises its prey to stay still while it feeds it goop, and then it can see through the prey's eyes? But then it would have struggled to save Skinny with not being able to see him... I'm also not clear on just how detrimental this is to its prey. If the hypnotism makes the prey think they've eaten, and they give all their food to the psychic alien, then they'll starve to death. Unless the goop has some nutritional value, but I don't think it's for that...
