The kid looks too much like Quitterie. While coincidences happen irl, this is anime so I can't believe they're not blood related. My theory is the doctor either cloned herself or her daughter or something, and she's who the sphere thingy is after. Then the sphere thingy chasing Quitterie is because it thinks she's the kid because it can't tell the difference between them. Whether or not the kid knows about this / is evil I'm less sure on. Also my guess for the person who cut the comms is Blondie.
