Patreon friends, when you suggested we start recording movie commentary tracks as bonus content, we were admittedly a little hesitant — talking over movies is, after all, antithetical to our quiet movie-watching natures. On the other hand, we're all fans of the increasingly rare beast that is the commentary track (to the extent we had a whole column devoted to them back in the A.V. Club days), so we decided to get over it and try our hand at commentary-ing a film that represents a long-standing critical rift among your NPS hosts: Edgar Wright's 2010 adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, a film beloved by Tasha, Genevieve, and Keith, and merely tolerated by Scott. Will two hours of chatting about the film's relentlessly playful style, pop-culture references, and prescient casting change Scott's mind? Or will he be continually distracted by the film's references to Canadian chain Pizza Pizza? Maybe both! The only way to find out is to sync up the film (we watched via Netflix and the Netflix Party app) and listen along. We're making this first track public, but future commentaries will be subscriber-only, so if you like what you hear, make sure you're subscribed and let us know what film you'd like to hear us talk over next!

I could not dream up a better choice for the first watch along! Laughing out loud at the credits conversation thinking about my dad shouting out the Underwater Puppetry Consultant in Harry Potter 3.
