The Lobby: Godzilla vs. Kong (Patreon)

We all came out of watching the new Monsterverse entry Godzilla vs. Kong a little wistful for the theatrical experience we might have had with it — Tasha, Scott, and Genevieve all watched it at home on HBO Max prior to this post-mortem discussion — since so much of this film and franchise's dubious charm lies in its large-scale smashy-smashy. And yet we found much to discuss about Adam Wingard's spin on the formula, including whether it manages to escape this franchise's ongoing difficulties with telling human stories among the monster mayhem, which of the titular titan clashes worked and which didn't, and what a special third-act guest star (which we spoil, but only after copious warnings) adds to the proceedings.
