Mare of Easttown was always going to grab our attention, what with it being an HBO miniseries starring Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce (even if calling the latter's role here a starring one is a stretch), immediately evoking memories of Todd Haynes' fantastic Mildred Pierce, which has come up several times on the main show. But over the last five weeks Mare has proven its ability to keep our attention with its slowly unfolding whodunnit and intertwined character arcs. Following episode five's bombshell ending — seriously, do not listen to this if you are not caught up — Genevieve, Keith, and Scott got together to talk about what got them hooked on Mare, where our suspicions about the killer currently lie, and our favorite moments of the show's very dark strain of humor in action.

I cannot remember a time where a product has been so abundantly featured as Rolling Rock is in this show yet my immediate reaction has not been, "gross product placement". Now, I'm just suspicious of those who aren't drinking their Rolling Rock.

I used to drink Rolling Rock all the time in grad school, circa 1997-8. I liked looking through the green bottles when I was buzzed; I'm a simple creature that way. For me, it's virtually wiped off the map. This show was the first I'd encountered it in a while. (And frankly, I would choose other beers now.)
