Even more so than film, television is a vast, varied, and ever-shifting landscape through which any given viewer will chart their own unique path. So rather than attempt any sort of definitive list of the best television of last year, Genevieve, Keith, and Tasha decided to highlight some of the 2021 series, both new and returning, that didn't receive the level of attention and/or discussion we feel they deserved. Please note that at least one of the series mentioned in this episode, which was recorded at the tail end of December, has picked up major buzz (buzz buzz) and become the very definition of a watercooler show (or whatever qualifies as such in the digital age), but that does not affect the enthusiasm with which Genevieve recommends it!

Of course, the dozen or shows discussed here represent just the tiniest sliver of worthwhile televisual programming that's out there, so please sound off in the comments about other shows from the last year you want to champion, or respond to our choices and give us some of the discussion about these shows we've been craving!

The British game show Taskmaster delivered a fantastic Season 11 in 2021 with the introduction of Mike Wozniak, the British comedian and writer who may be familiar to listeners of the Beef and Dairy Network podcast. He was always game for the odd and unusual stunts the contestants do on the show, and produced at least two or three of the most memorable Taskmaster moments in recent history. We caught up with Frayed at the end of the year, and are totally hooked. Australian comedian (and former Taskmaster contestant) Sarah Kendall plays a mother who has to move back home after her husband dies under mysterious circumstances, and she has to deal with the high school friends she left under less-than-ideal circumstances. The end of season 1 defines everything that happens in season 2, and that's all I'll say about that. It's probably unnecessary to recommend Reservation Dogs, but I will say that episode 5, "Come and Get Your Love", is my favorite single episode of last year, because of the interplay between the three main characters in the story. They was raised right, ennit?

I really enjoyed the episode, but I didn't take notes! Can you post a list of the shows you talked about to jog my memory?
