YNPS: Genevieve recommends Starstruck (Patreon)

If our most recent pairing of Notting Hill and Marry Me didn't satisfy your craving for romance between a famous and a normie, does Genevieve have the romcom chaser for you, in this Patreon edition of Your Next Picture Show. The Rose Matafeo-created, -written, and -starring Starstruck takes that celebrity-romance premise and flips the gender dynamic, but like Notting Hill, its focus stays locked into the non-famous half of its romantic pairing, as viewers follow Matafeo's Jessie through a single year in which A-list actor Tom Kapoor (Nikesh Patel) dips in and out of her life. All six episodes of the first season are streamable now on HBO Max, with season two scheduled to land in the U.S. soon (it recently finished airing in the U.K.). Give it a shot, and be prepared to fall in love with Matafeo yourself once you see her sublime performance to "Return of the Mack."
