Switching Channels: The Dropout (Patreon)

The Dropout is telling a story that is at this point very familiar, via its earlier iterations as a podcast, a feature documentary, a book, and, oh yes, the real-life scandal surrounding the rise and fall of Theranos and its founder, Elizabeth Holmes. But despite that familiarity, both Scott and Genevieve found new things to appreciate in the eight-episode Hulu miniseries, beginning with the performances (chief among them Amanda Seyfried as Holmes and Naveen Andrews as her lover/accomplice Sunny Balwani) and extending through the efficient (and refreshingly linear) storytelling, sly humor, and clear-eyed curiosity about its complicated, deeply flawed subject.
