YNPS: Keith Recommends 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans' (Patreon)

Inspired by our Nicolas Cage double (double) feature of Adaptation and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and with Cage still on my mind thanks to my book Age of Cage, I'm recommending the 2009 film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. In an inspired pairing of Cage and director Werner Herzog, Cage plays a New Orleans cop whose addictions and general disregard for what's right and true do battle with an urge to do good. It's good! And widely misunderstood, thanks to a trailer that made it look 100% batshit when really batshit is just one ingredient among many. And if you want to know even more, I live tweeted the film for Pluto.TV a couple of weeks back. You can read that thread here.
