Had a bit of an unplanned disruption during my week off, so I'm not as ahead as I'd like, but hey, that's what the break is meant to help with, no? Enjoy!

I don't know if its that I'm in dark mode but all the numbers for the monthly schedule appear the same to me

That purify nova effect on the harbor will be really great if "Delve: The Movie" ever happens :) great chapter, thanks!

ZCochraine!%

Good chapter! Ah, Thrast is getting it, good.

Fabhar

Thrast is finally starting to understand just how much shit he could have potentially been in all this time.

Conor McGroarty

Depending on how intact the Fist of Progress is (critical systems they can’t repair due to lack of technical knowledge, materials or otherwise), they can just repair the entire thing (raising it would be a glorious sight, even if they have to do one half at a time due to practicality; though maybe raising it as one piece would somehow be easier) and use it as the flagship of their fleet (materials being the biggest limiter for wood ships). It’s massive and 1,000 empire people used it so enough for Ascension (can even squeeze more people for a short term emergency evacuation to drop off at a shore of a DKE place, though best not to be within sight of a city lest a Citizen decides to appropriate for the war). Wonder what name they will change the ship to? After all, shouldn’t be too hard for Tallheart to smooth the metal and carve a new name (hand of progress? thus appropriating the Empire term “progress” but giving it a different connotation by implying they are extending a hand for another to decide to take instead of forcing the issue with a fist). Thrast has learned not to mistake kindness for weakness and follow the damn rules and punishments. Rules and regulations for the win. Nice to have a clean harbor with a great wow factor and a live “before and after” for the audience.

Alexander Dupree

Oh yeah that was amazing I love that last bit with thrast thanks.

evyatar

How would he raise the ship though? Maybe with immolate.boil the water until it becomes steam...? So below the ship... But he needs to trap the steam below the ship. should be doable

The ship has been cut in two pieces,.no way it could be repaired at this point unless magical mending bullshit is involved. It could however probably provide 1 lot of material

Arcanes

Great chapter. Interesting direction with the ship. They could learn and find a lot of stuff in there.

Luke Scheffe

Worst case scenario, if the ship isn't salvageable as a ship, Rain can probably freeze the entire thing to raise it to the surface. Then with some work, they could bring it to shore and scrap it.

Doggi

It's a lot of metal, and Rain did want an airship

Ziggy
>>79248756

Ice floats. Rain has refrigerate as a skill. He can freeze a ridiculous amount of water at once with how powerful and efficient the skill is now, allowing him to send both halves to the surface. Then they just have to drag them to shore.

Ziggy
>>79249431

Had me actually thinking they might skip the boat and go straight to airship. But they'd need prototypes first and they're in a hurry. I can't see them quickly building an airship capable of safely transporting hundreds of people at once on the first try.

>>79249299

They have Tallheart, ofc it is salvageable. Freezing it to lift it is the whay to go i think. i dont think tallheart wants to fuse the two halfes together underwater. Though that would help with some security concerns... with the strength of all the silver rankers available they should be able to push the float iceberg ship on shore, to melt the ice and get to work. or maybe they fuse it under water after all and rain purifies the whole sea water in the interior away xD

Aaron

i wonder if they will get into more trouble before they can depart. oh man i can't wait for them to check out the dungeons around the city that they found in the records of that vault #,,,# hearing about more members getting some level ups and which builds they choose and how their small society will grow alongside it is just too awesome

Thenais

Rain playing Subnautica :D

abowden

I wonder if they will be able to join the ship back together, and repair it after they float it... Will they able to restore it to its former glory, and beyond?

Oatmeal

Since Leviathans and Dragons ignore rank restrictions, could their palings be similar to or the same as human palings? Though the fact that a Leviathan's presence raises the rank of its surroundings suggests it is leaking energy and as such would still have a porous paling, so maybe it's just an overwhelming and near endless supply of energy inside the paling instead.

Like getting yeeted off a cliff by a CRAFTER wasn't enough to hammer that home. I think the guy is just a little slow.

Elliot

Could the info here imply that a creature similar to a leviathan is responsible for the rank shift they just had to deal with?

evyatar
>>79251958

Great game. My pants were almost soiled the first time a leviathan jumped on my from no where

evyatar
>>79256092

So many vibes about leviathan's are not getting near shores or dragons not landing on other continents. I bet you that if a dragon or leviathan sense rain's broken paling before he closed the rupture they might be tempted XD

Oatmeal
>>79257623

I would assume the Leviathan's rank raising would be temporary, I don't think it would cause a permanent rank shift

Well, something about them and whales must be special. They still leak essence, but must be able to replenish it. The answer may be in the fact that silverplates have a core that produces essence. Could be the same for monsters. The hababa shaman king was essence-starved, but he was a bronze monster. The sparkscale queen was a silver monster, but bound to her biome by the arcane air pressure necessary for flotation. So my theory is that any monster at silver or above can leave their ranked area for longer periods of time depending on their level and essence generation. But only the abberant monsters do this. Rain mentioned this, saying that the monsters that the guild takes care of through extermination quests are all free-roaming abberants like the Skiffun in Fel Sadanis. This would mean that all free-roaming dragons, leviathans and whales are abberants who left their natural high-ranked biomes. This would be supported by the fact that all leviathans are unique and it's more of a classification than a specific monster type. It would also mean that whales can spend less time near the surface before diving back down due to vastly lower essence generation compared to leviathans. Another piece of evidence would be Khurt, the guild tavern owner from Fel Sadanis. As a child he got awakened straight to silver, implying a free-roaming silver blue coming close to civilization. Although he could theoretically have been awakened while traveling on a Gold Ship. But it's unlikely for a child to be allowed above-deck during a whale attack and the chance of it being blue is incredibly low. There have to be free-roaming silver monsters, otherwise silverplates would have basically no reason to be part of the guild in terms of available quests. Still, it's just a theory, I might be completely off target here.

Reminds me of the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park. If you've ever seen that alternate reality horror series. An interesting thought to consider.

Really fun chapter, and I always love to see Rain baffled by an error message! It feels like the world is opening up with this sea arc in progress. Great feeling of anticipation and adventure. <3

By the way the slot_collision error occurs when a system attempts to search for a specific tag and transmit data regarding that tag back to the user at the same time. It's typically seen in code involving radio sonar and other types of code created to locate things. Short term fix would be for Detection to pulse at even times, and other auras to pulse on odd times. The optimal solution, one that can prevent slot_collision while using all of Rain's auras at once, would be to add a Binary Tree Algorithm to his code. Any time two auras attempt to transit data simultaneously, the information path splits into a '0' or '1', allowing the data to move forward and back at the same time. The process can repeat using higher bit sequences such as '00' and 11' ad infinitum.

Loipers

Hmm... common ice is less dense than water. If Rain slowly freezes the area around the ship, maybe he can make it float to the surface. He'd just have to avoid suffocating himself inside a glacier.

Banger. The end was gold.

James Heskett

Over 600m at silver? Rains gunna be a walking nuke at gold... And at platinum? I dread to think so hurry up soul I want to see the destruction!

Can’t wait. I’d travel to the future just to read the book till the end and come back

Definitely a lot of possibilities here. Rain/Tallheart making a drive train propeller engine. Emerson/Green making ultra powerful wind sails. Jamus/Ameliah using Levitate/Grease exterior for the 100% weight/friction reduction cheat mode.

Courting death? Gasping bystanders? Now I know this is becoming a xinxia.

Why would you come back? I'd stay and read all of the amazing novels that finished.
