Huge shoutout to you for catching the fact that Evil Eye was affected by all the grudges and leftover hate and negativity from the previous victims of the Kito family (not a lot of reactors I’ve seen seem to catch that). Evil Eye is similar to Acro-Silky in that they were both were victims of horrible tragedies that sadly became twisted into malevolent Yokai (like the giant crab from last season being young girls who were brutally assaulted and murdered). Jiji is one of my top 3 DanDaDan characters of all time, and as a manga reader I’m glad the anime did him and this episode justice (the direction the animation studio took with the art style and music and general story boarding exceeded my expectations like holy moly); Jiji is a goober in the best way possible, and Evil Eye’s character design looks even sicker animated in colour. Here are some little extra tidbits of info: - Science Saru making the Evil Eye purple and the Mongolian Death Worm yellow is GOATed as purple and yellow are considered opposite ends of the colour spectrum from each other (aka opposing forces literally) - The gag from the last episode of the previous season where Jiji, Momo, and Okarun were climbing the mountain to get to Jiji’s house is immediately made darker and more tragic when you realize that the Kito family made that mountain by burying countless houses and building them on top of each other- literally a man-made mountain in the worst way possible - The reason Evil Eye was locked away and most likely chosen for a child sacrifice is because he had albinism, with white hair and red/purple eyes. A lot of cultures saw albinism as something inherently evil and demonic, and while I’m not 100% sure if it was the same in Japan, it could explain why Evil Eye was starved, isolated, and locked away before being sacrificed - It wasn’t exactly clear in the manga and is still a little convoluted in the anime, but it’s implied that whenever Evil Eye tried to interact and play with the children of the houses when he was a spirit, he unintentionally made vibrations (the little dance he would do) which alerted the Mongolian Death Worm to activate its psychic waves (the reason all the children were spared from the waves is because Evil Eye was trying to protect them, only for the Kitos to come in and finish the job)
