The Seven Major Factions are not permanent alliances. They are broad groups whose members share enough political, economic, or social interests to usually support similar policies. Members of the same Faction can still compete, undermine one another, or even become enemies when their individual interests collide.

The Old Houses Faction

Made up of the oldest and most powerful noble houses in the Kingdom. Their main interest is preserving the influence and privileges accumulated by their families over generations. They often oppose the Development Faction and support limiting the growing influence of the Three Guilds, but rivalry between individual Old Houses can be fierce.

The Development Faction

Led by Prince Leonard, the Faction pushes for reforms and policies intended to modernize the Kingdom and increase opportunities for the wider population. This frequently puts it in conflict with groups whose wealth or privileges depend on the existing system, especially the Landowners and Traders, but also Three Guilds.

The Three Guilds Faction

Represents the interests of the three great Guilds (Explorer, Diplomatic, and Mage Guilds), institutions with extensive networks in every country on the Continent. They are generally comfortable with the existing balance of power and prefer stability over major political change. They share some interests with the Temples and are opposed by those who want to reduce their privileges.

The King's Faction

The most powerful Faction on paper, but also the one carrying the greatest number of responsibilities. Its resources are constantly divided between different problems across the Kingdom. The King usually tries to maintain balance by encouraging the other Factions to oppose whichever group is becoming too powerful.

The Landowners' Faction

Represents nobles and other powerful figures whose wealth and influence are closely tied to land. They are among the strongest opponents of Prince Leonard's Development Faction, since many of his reforms directly limit their traditional privileges. They also frequently clash with the Traders and the Old Houses.

The Traders

Built around the Kingdom's major commercial and manufacturing interests. Their biggest conflict is currently with Landowners and Prince Leonard, especially over his policies concerning Portal access and economic regulation.

The Temples

Religious institution whose influence, like that of the Three Guilds, extends across many countries. Their interests tend to favor stability and continuity rather than rapid political change. Because of that, they often find themselves aligned with the Three Guilds, although this does not mean the two groups form a permanent alliance.

Faction means shared interests, not loyalty.
