I would say the general difference between UK and US sitcoms is that in US ones, everything works out in the end of the episode and you're left with the warm and fuzzies, whereas in UK ones everything goes to pot and you're dying laughing. Neither one is objectively better. Personally I love Modern Family, but another UK sitcom you should do is called Ghosts. There is an American version (like the office) that isn't too bad, it just has many more episodes and hasn't ended yet. I recommend watching the UK one first
