As soon as I saw the notification for this I knew that this would be top 10 of my favorite pink pop cast reactions ever. To this day I still sing the songs with my brothers. Also there is supposed to be a rumored live action coming in a few years, so that’s also amazing.

Yea in the beggining Benji you're think of King Herod who heard about the birth of a 'King of Jews' and ordered the slaughter of all males under 2 years old. To try to control the booming population of the Isrealites, Pharoh ordered all baby boys be thrown into the Nile.

Such a great movie, I’ve been wanting to do a rewatch since Val Kilmer passed (RIP to a legend ❤️‍🩹), can’t wait to watch this reaction!

I loved this movie growing up. It still holds true today. This is one of the rare movies that still holds up today as far as animation & story line.

I forgot the name but there is a documentary that tries to give historical context to the story of the plagues. Think of legends being oral stories passed down generations like a game of telephone; there is a base of some truth to an event that occurred that people tried to make sense of, which usually involves mythology or religion to “explain” them. Anywho- there is an algae that contains a bacteria that turns red and can kill some fish that could’ve been the ‘blood’ in the river. They think that the first borns being the ones who died did so because in Egyptian culture, it was customary for the eldest son would be the first to eat, getting the top or most recent scoops of grain from (what they insinuate to be) contaminated supply. Anyway, pretty cool to try to find!

My Jewish practicing family definitely saw this as a go to of films. Love it even not being religious now similar to Rizzo.

Surya Srinivasan

Another awesome reaction! Have you guys reacted to Miss Congeniality?

Ashley Weaver

I love this movie. I have seen it a least 3 or 4 dozen times. Growing up in a Christian home and going to church a couple times a week as a kid and still as an adult. I got to meet Val Kilmer at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention in Lexington, Kentucky in March 2021. I got an autographed photo of him as Bruce Wayne in Batman Forever. He was the voice of God and Moses in this movie. He seemed like a super nice guy when I met him.

Yes, Rizzo you are correct about Moses' story in the Old Testament. Miriam actually went and got her mother to be Moses' wet nurse. His mom hid for three months until she couldn't hide him anymore. So, I am assuming she was still breastfeeding at that point. Also, Moses was found by Pharaoh's daughter not his wife in the Bible. There's speculation that Pharaoh's daughter knew that he a Hebrew because Moses would have been circumcised at this point. Male Jewish babies are circumcised after they are 8 days old. The Egyptians also practiced circumcision. But it was primarily know as a thing that all Jewish men had done. That and her father had decreed that baby boys be thrown into the Nile River.

You guy should what ‘journey to Bethlehem’ it has great songs

1.) Moses's mother was taken as a wet nurse for Moses. I believe he stayed with that family for a while. 2.) The Moses baby killing was from the prophesy. The Moses baby killing was because of the growing number of Hebrews. 3. Fun fact that's always amused me about the Moses story: Moses originally argued with God, saying he was not a great speaker. God gave him the out that he could have Aaron as the mouthpiece with Moses using the staff to do the wonders. However, if you read the account, Moses does all of the talking and has Aaron use the staff. It's just a ridiculous moment I find funny. 4.) Finally, there is a musical version of rhis that is pretty good. They kept all of the really great songs (not sung by the priests) and added other great songs. There's even a song where Moses is struggling with what happened to Egypt right after the last plague. It feels very human. The musical is definitely worth a watch at least once.

I applaud you Rizzo for being able to read that much. there were many times I tried to read the Bible when I was bored in church and my ADHD was like 'Nah girl, get that gay romance out your bag, then we'll talk'. I ended up treating it like school and just took notes for my Dad. It cured only my boredom, not my atheism, but I found out pastors are pretty good comedians

Kate

Cool fact but slave didn’t do construction in ancient Egypt, those kinds of jobs were for skilled workers that were “paid” with housing and food. Most slave were war captives and criminals who did agricultural and domestic work

Maya Powell

Even better, can we get a live-action version of this movie with Ariana and Cynthia playing Moses’ wife and sister?
