I (from Tennessee) am tempted. I don't see it working out for me, but I am sitting here thinking if I could time off from work. I have been to California a handful of times, but just realized only once to Los Angeles and it was nearly 20 years ago.

Allison

I wish I could but I have too much going on right now and I'm in Illinois! I hope some day you have another event and I can come.

24:45 - This scene is a reference to the Mary Kay Letourneau scandal that rocked a Washington School district when it was discovered that she had a been sexually involved with a 14 year old student. Then, 4 months after she was found guilty and convicted, she gave birth to his child in prison.

which movie/show did you mean to comment this on?

Oh god...I don't know how I ended up on this comment thread, but, that's for Scary Movie, the scene in her high school class before annoying Heather spewing her annoying freedom talk with her annoying voice. When she says "You go to your daddy" ...that's referencing that nationwide scandal in 1996-1997. She had a child with a 15 year old student, and actually ended up having a 2nd one with him also. It was bad. Its kinda funny that they use the MKL (Mary Kay Letourneau) in this movie, then, we see a gag with Dawson from Dawson's Creek...because their first season of the show was how Pacey (Jonathan Jackson, portraying a 16 year old student) was having an affair with his teacher. I vividly remember one scene where he asked his peers if Oysters made people more horny. And that shocked me, because I was like "Didn't I just see him do Mighty Ducks not even 2 years before this?" and it was so bizzare to see a Disney-themed actor not saying "disney things. The scandal, for what good did come from it, prompted a nationwide swath of policy and legal changes in education in reference to staff and faculty interactions with students in and out of class as well as reporting rules, acceptable conduct, etc etc. It really brought down the hammer on relationships that were considered permissible 60 years ago, but not now, and really they weren't back then either. It also standardized the acceptable kinds of conduct with more explicit rules and reporting requirements to avoid any confusion, gray area, or other less clear ideas.
