Emmi

Forget the show those glasses suit you so well omg

Liv

conrad was 17 in s1 and 18 in s2. still pretty young. so i think a little grace should be given abt him losing his mom! but thats just my opinion :)

Liv

and to me age doesn’t really matter in that sense…i mean he’s losing a parent…but i get your argument! I think they’re showing conrad going to therapy and growing and all to show he actually wouldn’t shut down again if some tragedy happens!

Tabitha

Grief can effect people in different ways. I’ve been Conrad and I had to unlearn things along the way and I was older than he was when I was going through that. I don’t think the show is trying to make excuses but more trying to get people to understand how differently people handle things. Jeremiah and Belly clinging to each other also isn’t healthy. What Conrad did wasn’t healthy. I think the show does a good job at showing the differences and how you can start to heal. Conrad going to therapy and opening up more is the right step. It took me years to get help. If you’re team Jeremiah that’s great but I think some people try to make Conrad out to be this terrible person when in reality the only horrible person in the show is Adam lol. Even people who are team Conrad will try to make Jeremiah a villain somehow when neither of them are. I couldn’t imagine how I would’ve handled things if I was 17 like Conrad was when this all was happening. I understand the points that were made but idk I think because I relate to Conrad I get it more but I can also admit what he did was absolutely wrong. This is a hard topic because I could go more into it but I won’t, I’ll end it at that haha I do want to add that Conrad taking back what he said wasn’t right but tbh Belly had already made her decision so in hindsight I don’t think it would’ve changed anything in that moment.

Emmi

pretty sure Belly's one thing WAS it being at the house

Beth

The peach scene was HILARIOUS. It's one of those scenes (for me anyway) that completely pulls me out of the narrative and makes me think of how ridiculous the actor must have felt filming it. As a doubter of Conrad and Bonrad, I still felt bad for him this ep and may have shed a tear for the poor guy in this one.

Elle

I think Jenny Han said her direction was for her to eat it for her own pleasure/ like no one was watching. She definitely delivered lol

Liv

I’m sorry i will never get the “he was an asshole” argument regarding prom. his mom died days later so of course he had reason to be depressed. he forgot her corsage , apologized about it, and was down the whole night. belly’s thought it was bc she did something wrong he reassured her that she didn’t and then she broke up with him. i love belly but she had to have known a little that it had to do with his mom. but they really were just kids and that’s why i think you really can’t fault either of them. also just want to say jenny han confirmed conrad was 17 in s1 which would make him 18 in s2 and a freshman in college. still incredibly young in my opinion!

Zoe Cane

Putting Conrad aside, Jeremiah & Belly aren’t a healthy couple in their current dynamic. They’re both clinging to eachother to avoid growing. Rushing to get married after the grey-area cheating, Steven’s accident & a critical point in their lives when Belly is thinking about going to Paris & Jeremiah is finishing school. Jeremiah is still begging for his dad’s approval at the expense of everything else. Belly is afraid of being on her own.

Zoe Cane

A big difference between Conrad & Jeremiah is that Conrad stopped caring about his father’s approval much earlier than Jeremiah did. Even in healthy parent/child dynamics, part of growing up is having to decenter your parent’s feelings. Conrad went the combative approach in season 1 bc he found out about the cheating & his mom having cancer & his reaction was to destroy the parts of himself his dad approved of. Now he’s grown more & he can still enjoy things like football & not care about his Dad’s opinion. Jeremiah still begging for his dad’s approval (bc he never got it), working at his company and it’s effecting his relationship with Belly.

Liv

it’s time for me to admit the cold harsh truth…benji and i will never see eye to eye on this show LOL but it’s okay!! ugh conrad’s character means so much to me so i personally LOVED this episode. also rizzo…WELCOME TO TEAM CONRAD!!!! happy to have you! also something abt this episode to me is I feel like chris’ acting has been such a standout this season and it really shined through this episode. and chris and lola’s chemistry feels so natural UGH okay im done now. great reaction as always, can’t wait for the next!

Liv

and jeremiah has now gotten first dance song, cake, the wedding guests…much more than one thing 😭

Liv

this show has actually done a great job on how grief affects people differently in my opinion so you make a great point!! it’s so interesting to see how the general public reacts to each character bc at the end of the day while the show is fake these are very real feelings and experiences that people go through everyday. so it does kinda bum me out when certain characters get an immense amount of hate when i know ppl irl have gone through these struggles as well :/. all the characters are flawed and i think jenny has done a great job at not providing excuses for their actions but instead explanations! i am very partial to conrad bc i relate to him and i recognize that some of his tendencies aren’t exactly healthy but his growth has actual been very beautiful and real imo!

Emmi

TBF to Jeremiah ( hate to do it ) I think the one thing is more 1 none negotiable where as with the dance and the guests belly did cave all on her own to please him .

Liv

no 100% but i feel like that kinda speaks to their dynamic. lots of sacrifices being made on belly’s part and i feel like jeremiah hasn’t really met her halfway

Emmi

Oh 100% she mommies him so bad and not in the fun freaky way

Nash

omggg i wanna hear the argument 🥸

Zoe Cane

I think a big part of their break up was Belly’s inability to see Conrad as a normal flawed person & not put him on a pedestal. Belly bc of her huge crush on Conrad built him up as this perfect guy when… nobody is perfect. Especially when he’s dealing with grief. Conrad wasn’t in a good place to be in a relationship as well. Jere was so angry in season 2 that “Conrad isn’t as great as you think he is” because of his inferiority complex their dad caused by constantly praising Conrad & ignoring Jere. So Jere feels jealous any time Conrad isn’t “grateful” for that praise (bc by season 1 Conrad stopped putting his dad on a pedestal). He was happy when Belly was the one person that picked him over Conrad.

Roz

I feel like me and Benji have watched two totally different shows. I guess that just goes to show you how stories and characters can be viewed in a million different ways tho.

Emmi

I've also NEVER rooted for the broody/ moody person in a love triangle EVER. Team Stefan, team Michael but Conrad just draws me in man

Zoe Cane

I think it’s bc Conrad’s moody-ness is an extenuating circumstance. Yes he’s yearning for Belly right now but, his bad mood in seasons 1 & 2 were canonically uncharacteristic of him bc he was reacting to finding out his mother had cancer. Overall he’s much happier & has grown through the show. He’s much more responsible & sure of himself than Jere is.

Katherine Strohm

I don't understand the prom drama, he forgot a corsage and wanted to leave early because he was in a sad mood I really don't think it is that bad...

Jeno

I think that's why I won't be on Team Conrad, even when Jere is starting to irritate me... (Gotta love character assassination!) Time and time again, Jere had given Conrad chances to make his decision.. (Even tho it's Belly's decision lol.) Conrad constantly going back and forth, hot and cold, "Actually, I take back everything I said." REALLY PISSES ME OFF! Especially at the end of season 2. HE JUST NEEDS TO SAY IT AND KEEP HIS WORD! Like, yes, it will hurt Jere, but eventually he'll get over it... But now we're 4 years in... Con is hurt Jere no matter what because he took so LONG TO COMMUNICATE HIS FEELINGS!! ALSO, I find it quite funny that Con said he would take care of Jere, but during the restaurant scene in ep 3, he didn't say anything to their dad while he was DEGRADING him... like hello?? As an older sibling myself, I'm standing up and protecting my younger sibling from a shitty ass person!! Anyways, great watch ahha and I 100% understand you, Benji!

Emmi

Ik people get frustrated by Benji hating Conrad and belly but honestly I find it kind of refreshing ... Fandom spaces like tiktok and twitter are such echo chambers it's far more entertaining to see Benji ragging on him than more people loving on him . And I say that asap Jeremiah HATER

Mia Aikens

Please watch Euphoria

Liv

I just think it’s so funny to call something character assassination when jeremiah’s flirtatious tendencies and ability to not take things to seriously has been a thing since s1.

Mia Aikens

Supposedly there was a lot of drama behind the scenes. A lot of people think that’s why the chemistry this season was very off

celeste

i feel like even though it’s valid to feel the way conrad felt, he did hurt belly’s feelings— his biggest flaw is that he keeps so much to himself (yes we’re all guilty of that), he tries to convince people that he’s okay when he could’ve been honest and said he wasn’t feeling it long before prom. like yes he was trying to make sure everyone else is happy but clearly that doesn’t work 🤷🏽‍♀️ it’s not more mature to bottle things up

celeste

yes!! it reminds me of what it’s like to watch it with my siblings 😂 like i’m 28, i read the books over 10 yrs ago—i am not taking this seriously lmao

celeste

i feel like the writing and direction are forcing me to want belly and conrad together!! they’re like gripping my eyelids open, birdbox style 💀 tbh i feel like she needs to go to paris, maybe her and jere break up naturally, years pass and THEN conrad and belly can strike up a romance 🌹

celeste

nobody talks about conrad being like “jk i don’t love you”!! everyone wants all the characters to cater to conrad’s feelings but conrad hasn’t expressed himself to them. he’s completely valid in his grief but benji is right when he says it just doesn’t make him a good option

Jeno

I won't argue that Jere isn't a flirt. We know that. Pretty much was stated and shown in season 1. But wdym his ability not take things seriously? I'm sure this idea was fed by Conrad at the beginning of season 2, when Belly and Conrad decide to be together, Belly says, "I don't want to hurt Jere." Then Conrad goes, "Me neither. Look, I'll talk to him. He might not even be that upset, you know? It's Jere. He never takes anything seriously." Obviously, Jere did think Him and Belly were serious, and that's why he got so upset. He took finding out their mother was sick seriously, and the first person he wanted to share that with was Conrad. (Which we know ended up in a fight because Con didn't say anything...) Jere was the one who pushed his mom to do the treatments, and was so excited to tell Belly that maybe these treatments could actually work. Then he stayed with his mom, managing appointments and the bills. (I won't say that he was the one paying for all of it, like other jelly shippers, because that's kinda unrealistic... and idk how much that all be haha #gotthatfreehealthcare) But he was there and took it all seriously! And I am not disregarding Con, school is important, so I understand why he couldn't always be there. Minor things to add, him being dedicated to being the DD during the bonfire. Defending Belly from the other debs, being there for Belly just in general... Jere is also making sure Conrad is okay, like making hangover drinks for him, and helping him study for an exam. Jere really does care for his older brother. S3 was the biggest switch-up in his character. Sorry for being upset that a character I enjoyed is being played as a villain :/

Jeno

Oh, 100%!! Belly is insecure, the constant "jk I don't love you" just affects her self-image more,, She's the type who needs validation. That's why I am more inclined to support Jere because he does that for her. (or at least did ahahaha;;) But if Con is willing to say what he wants to say without backtracking, then I've got nothing to say lol

J

The take on Conrad being this toxic persona is um interesting? I will say it’s not that they’ve changed Jeremiah’s character and improved Conrad this is who Conrad has always been, the show since season 1 makes a point to tell you there is something different about him. Almost every single character points it out during season 1, he’s not his usual self. The kind, helpful selfless person he is being now that’s his true self, we met a version of him actively dealing with his dying mother and his cheating father and was lashing out. Jere has always been less responsible, he is the charming baby of the family and he has never had to be responsible for anything until season 2. Not saying it’s good or bad that’s just reality of their family dynamic, no one ever asked him or needed him to step up because someone else always did. Until Conrad went to Brown, Susannah was dying and Adam was absentee. We saw in season 2 how much Jere resented being thrust into responsibility, especially when he felt corned and alone in doing so. Now, he doesn’t have to be burdened with that and he’s reverted into his more carefree self, no one is demanding more of him. Not Conrad who is at Stanford and trying to reconnect with him via distance, not Adam who would rather just be financially supportive and absent and certainly not Belly who is still living off guilt of “abandoning” him when Susannah was sick. Right now he’s a young college student who typically has no financial worries due to his family, feels chosen by Belly and essentially has what he wants (with the exception of Adam’s love). There is no villainizing him as a character it’s just the reality of where he is at. I think in season 3 you’re seeing two very realized version of both Conrad and Jere, you’re seeing versions of who they have both always been but also obvious ways they still need to grow. I think this season is just doing work to show, if Belly had Conrad at his best would she have even been with Jere? She started dating Conrad at his worst and it’s what broke them down. He’s stayed away for 4 years and it’s not lost on the audience that is a part of why belly and Jere have worked so well. Conrad has only been back a few weeks and Belly is having to run away to avoid her tether to him.

Zoe Cane

It also makes sense that Belly is learning these things about Jeremiah now bc they’re going to get married soon, not in a controlled environment like college. He can be oblivious to other people ($750 cake, not being considerate of her mom paying for lunch, other things…) there’s a level of responsibility he’s never really had to shoulder & Belly isn’t the kind of person that expects more from him. Steven even told her she’s not giving him the chance to step up. She’d never talk to Jere the way she talked to Conrad jokingly “stop being a little bitch” because Jere’s self esteem can’t handle that. She has to baby him.

Zoe Cane

Literally everybody talks about Conrad’s avoidance problems. That’s a big reason why they broke up. It’s just that Conrad is working through that. Jeremiah is completely oblivious to how he is inconsiderate of the people around him. The expensive cake while getting a small engagement ring, being obsessed with his dad’s approval at the expense of Belly, getting an expensive lunch on Laurel’s dime… it’s a pattern. Jeremiah has never had to hold responsibility & Belly is noticing it. Jeremiah is insecure & Belly has to constantly coddle him. Notice how she can jokingly tell Conrad to stop being a little bitch. It’s not character assassination to point that out in their relationship. He’s not evil, he just has some growing to do just like Belly & Conrad.

Zoe Cane

I feel like Jeremiah & Belly have enough problems that have nothing to do with Belly & Conrad’s lingering feelings. Jeremiah’s desperate need for his Dad’s approval, being inconsiderate/irresponsible, Belly’s willingness to completely give up everything to Jeremiah, rushing to get married & cling to each-other out of fear of growing up. They’re both afraid of change & are holding eachother back.

Zoe Cane

I think their dynamic is perfectly shown in the lunch scene when they announce they're getting married. Laurel is paying, Jeremiah & Adam get the most expensive thing on the menu. Belly gets a smaller dish but Adam orders more food & Jeremiah still doesn't reconsider his choice. Jere just doesn't think of that. It's been FOUR YEARS of dating. Yes Belly is making many concessions for him & she should speak up. BUT Jere as a "good partner" should be able to pick up on certain things. It's not being a "mind reader", it's being aware. Belly is a lot more attentive to Jeremiah in that respect. He can't compromise on anything without guilt tripping her. He wants an expensive cake but couldn't keep the wedding venue she wanted, her "one thing". When Belly said she doesn't wanna go to Paris anymore, why didn't Jeremiah ask her about it more knowing how excited she was... he's oblivious when it benefits him.

Bri 🐈‍⬛

Apparently Chris Briney (Conrad) lost his mom the same way in real life like in the show. It makes that scene with him and Susannah much more heartbreaking 💔💔💔

Jeno

Honestly, I really enjoy conversations like this. I haven't really thought that Belly is now seeing all of Jere's flaws in this season. But I would've liked to see some of this in past seasons. All we really saw was him wanting his dad's approval because his dad always favoured Con. We only really saw the jealousy Jere has. (Unless there is something I missed in the last season, if so, please enlighten me.) But that's why I call it character assassination. He was very considerate of almost everyone :/ I feel like if they used his jealousy flaw more, I'd be less inclined to call it character assassination.

Jeno

Also to add... Personally, I don't think Belly and Jere should get married. At the moment, I think they are both immature and need to work on each other, whether it's together or separately. It really was frustrating that Belly decided not to go to Paris because I felt that would be the perfect time to work on themselves. As for Con, I understand that he's been working on himself, going to therapy and whatnot. But disappointed he didn't talk about Belly and Jere. ALTHOUGH Con's decision to stay at cousins after hearing Belly crying, even though it pains him, is somewhat a form of exposure therapy???? LOL If I were Belly, I would've left these silly little white boys so long ago, like it's so exhausting !!

Alexis

So he’s an asshole because he forgot the corsage because his mother was dying… mind you belly broke up with him, but Jere can cheat? tbh I don’t see the logic behind that 😭

Sally Jean-Baptiste

Benji i must say I LOVE watching these reactions because as a fellow team Jere for similar reasons its been a refreshing experience to watch as other reactors I've watched are team Conrad.

Avi

I think I tend to be a bit more team Conrad but I'm obsessed with how Benji is ride or die team Jere. It’s just really entertaining to watch someone have fun with it and defend his team

Anna Willoughby

Well Conrad wasn't THAT good there wasn't even any foreplay.😏

Anna Willoughby

I feel like people keep SAYING Jeremiah doesn't take things seriously, but I haven't seen it. He took his mom dying very seriously. He's taking his job seriously enough to not just drop everything and leave for a Michael's run. idgi lol

Anna Willoughby

I feel like all the conflicts with Jere are like the most normal couple things, and the conflicts with Conrad is always him being a person who is incapable of communicating who has a major batman complex

Masha X.

Yeah yeah conrad, jeremiah blabla... You cut 30 minutes of you arguing!!! How dare you!!! 😂 Well, I am just here to tell you, that I love all of your rants and talking and arguing 😄 And always appreciate any opinions you have 😊 Sometimes I agree and sometimes I do not, but it is okay! I find it a little funny when you have to have a whole monologue everytime that it is just a show and people should not get mad that you make fun or have a view on things of your own - it's a mad world 😄 So because sometimes I get a feeling that people are a little mean (from all those "disclaimers" 😄). This is my shout out that I watch your reactions for all that stuff like talking over things and missing random "very important scene" 😄, making fun of characters because they are stupid or over dramatic, your playful arguing and vibing to music and singing the songs and trying to not spoil things when one of you knows more 😄 and everything else in between. Just if you do not hear this often enough, I love your reactions ❤️ P.S. I am team Rizzo, I don't care 😄 nobody should be with anybody really 😄 and the wedding thing - if they are younger in the book, it makes sense, but here in the show it's just huh? calm down everybody 👀

Tito

Release the unfound footage!! 😹

Vanessa Hill

I know I’m like a month late but this comment is so interesting to me since I keep seeing the same sentiment. Please don’t take this as an attack or anything but genuinely curious- do you really think Belly was mad just about a corsage? It feels very plain to me that sure she wasn’t pleased about the corsage but that wasn’t the true issue. The issue was him being shut down and avoidant frequently, especially on a night that is supposed to be a big fun memorable night. He is completely valid in being withdrawn of course, but it took belly being completely uncomfortable and unhappy as well for him to finally ask if they could talk. He still at no point made it clear to her that the his mom’s situation was just weighing extra heavy that night which Belly would have obviously understood. Belly is also dealing with Suzanna’s death but it isn’t going to weigh on everyone the same at the same time so she knows he’s dealing with it but not understand the current weight of it. He doesn’t give Belly the chance to be there for him, which is understandable for him to do in the whirlwind of emotion, but it also makes it understandable for belly to be confused and think he doesn’t want her close ie doesn’t want that relationship. It’s been so interesting to see people read between the lines for Conrad but then not do the same for any other character so I’m genuinely curious is you were able to see more of Belly’s perspective as well or if you truly feel she was just upset about a corsage/prom and not the deeper issue that had been festering?

Yadira Cano Camacho

Release the 30 min argument!! This is another of my fave episodes- just so fascinating to see how Conrad sees Belly 😭 I love a yearner and both Conrad and Jeremiah yearned for a period of time. Conrad was just locked in for 4 years 😂

Zin

Just wanted to add- you don't always lose your hair when you have cancer treatment. My mother in law had cancer treatment cut her hair and got wigs in preparation for it to fall out- but it never did. Instead, she lost her teeth. (This was many years ago) she died a few months ago due to the cancer coming back undetected. Please, get your health checked if you have a family history of cancer. (again, just wanted to add- she never lost her hair and it doesn't happen for everyone. I miss her.
