Victoria Davis

I remember watching this super young with my parents and sister. The queen with her changing faces scared me sooo much

Judy garland was supposed to be young like a child they tried to make her look younger by taping down her chest haha

Ariadne Granado

I totally remember watching the movie, having no clue what was going on and being absolutely TERRIFIED 😂

DC

I think I first watched this on television when I was like 10 years old. I was enthralled. I had already seen The Wizard of Oz at that point and was obsessed with it. But I was a kid that routinely watched movies on repeat so, I didn't have trouble with it keeping my attention but I could see how Return to Oz can be both overstimulating in its chaos at times and also has it's slower moments where you could get distracted. I always wondered what this would have been like if it had been a musical. They did indeed pay for the rights to use the ruby slippers. You even see them in the trailer, which is kind of a spoiler in hindsight because they do pop up out of nowhere in the movie. Disney really wanted fans of the original to buy into this but it didn't really work at the time. I don't think you guys have watched the original Carrie (yet) but the actress who played Aunt Em in this movie played Carrie's mother in that.

Geeked! This is an unofficial sequel... that definitely had my sisters and I hooked! We would rent the VHS back to back .... core childhood memory unlocked. Thanks

Aunt Em is played by Piper Laurie. You might have seen her before in Carrie, The Faculty or Twin Peaks. 😊

One of the first times my older brother and I were allowed to stay home alone—he immediately showed me this movie in true older brother form just to terrify me. It always felt like a fever dream!

It struck me on this watch, that she says tick tocks real problem is not the winding up but “his winding down”, which was probably a call back of real world Dorothy having trouble winding down to sleep.

I saw this in the theater when I was six and my brother was four. I think it was my very first WTF moment. The 80’s were wild.
