At the southernmost tip of the Tempest's Spine Mountains, guarding the only navigable road into the realm of Velgard, stand the Howling Gates.

This stout keep, where it is said a garrison of merely fifty could withstand an army of any size, has never fallen despite enduring countless sieges throughout the centuries. Its unyielding walls have allowed the Velkari (the last descendants of the ancient Dawn Men) to survive in a world dominated by far greater powers.

It was before these very walls, with the mountain winds screaming through the pass, that Faenir the Blessed, the legendary storm mage and the fabled first prince of Velgard, shattered the armies of Galdoria. His victory secured Velgard's independence and preserved the traditions of his people for generations to come.

Centuries late, any who seek entry into the Principality of Velgard must pass through the Howling Gates and earn the favour of the Gate Captain or be prepared to pay a heavy toll, in either gold or blood.

Welcome to our fifth release this month : The Howling Gates

This map was based of another great Discord suggestion and inspired by The Bloody Gates from Game of Thrones that guards the entrance of to the Vale. For the mountain realm of Velgard we are fleshing out it will have much the same purpose and will no doubt be one of the first stops our PCs make on as they explore this mountainous realm.

The Howling Gate would make for a great border fort or perhaps even a lair for powerful faction. Let us know how you end up using it :)
