ngl, I forgot this episode exists... My brain had certain scenes saved (Zuko and Iroh parting, Sokka reconnecting with his boomerang, Kyoshi seperating the island), everything else was pretty much a "oh yeah, that happened. I forgot..." It certainly is a weird and slightly disconnected episode... Kyoshi Island is at the south west of the earth kingdom. There is a map created by a redditor (I believe created by ranchstaff24, but I'm not a 100% sure) that is beautifully made and gives you an amazing overview to where everything is in relation to each other. I think it's not 100% correct in some minor details (very minor though) and it has several place names that you have not visited yet, but since you don't know their relevence I'm confident in saying this map isn't a spoiler for you. If you're interested, here is the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/mapmaking/comments/k6xs8a/i_created_a_geographically_accurate_fully_labeled/#lightbox It's so funny, I have not watched them yet, but the Gallifrey Pals get recommended to me so much mainly for their Vox Machina and Jane Austen reactions. I guess I should check them out! But yeah, I just looked and they have watched Avatar on their channel.

So unfortunately we never get a clear answer as to what caused that tornado, I would assume because it happened when they were trying to leave while aang was clearly being called by the swamp that the swamp (or a swamp spirit of some kind) was the one that caused it to bring him down.

Cari Ann

I agree with Sokka this is the worst town they have been to lol but i do really enjoy this episode. Iroh and Zuko going their seperate ways is heartbreaking I agree, poor iroh. Learning about kyoshi is always a plus in any episode she is definitely a lot of people's favorite avatar. I think it was funny you were asking in the beginning if everyone usually loves the avatar only to find out no they don't lol.

VeggieGamer

Brilliant!! Thanks for the map! I found it very quick on your directions! Really glad Galifrey Gals have covered it on their channel, I can't wait to check it out. I highly recommend their other series they have covered! Highly recommend their Red Dwarfs and Blackadders, as well as their current Cowboy Bebop series (if you haven't seen the show yet, do it!! It is wonderful IMO. And WHAT a soundtrack XD)!

PumpkinSparks

That's my understanding too. Some classical "spiritual swamp calling, not taking no for an answer" we've all been there ;)

Madikuma95

I remembered this episode being weird but I forgot how funny it is! 😂

Nice early Avatar! I feel so bad for Zuko and Iroh spitting up, but I guess you’ll have to see if it was a good idea or not! Galifrey Pals was one of the first Avatar reaction series I watched, down the large rabbit hole of reactions lol

jolt45

The next 36 episodes of Avatar are EXCELLENT. I hope that isn't too much of a spoiler!

Happy Avatar Day, Veggie! 🥳 I always liked this episode, I love Kyoshi. Wished we got an animated series focused on her.

Brendan Coen

I really look forward to this every week. What a nice surprise

Hey Veggie, Glad you enjoyed the visit from Kyoshi. She heard the village leader say "Chin the Great" one too many times lol. I love episodes that do deep dives into the avatar and their past lives. My favorite line was "Looks like it's boiled in oil" because me and my brothers will say that whenever one of us is frying something in the kitchen. See you in the next one. Take care, my dude.

Maybe when you finish the series, you might want to read the ATLA novels that follow Avatars before Aang. Kyoshi has two novels! Roku has one with another coming out soon- in December.
