And out of nowhere - WE HAVE ANOTHER TEAM MEMBER!

This episode had me written ALL over! - Lots of Earthbending, Wrestling references and Sokka buying a fancy bag!

I am excited to see how the dynamic is now Toph (I thought it was 'Tuff' XD) has joined the gang!

Here we go! Been waiting for this one. I look forward to your reaction. Especially now the greatest character has arrived. I talk of course about THE BOULDER!!!

So excited!!! Blind bandit pub? I am in lol. Happy Thanksgiving I know you don't celebrate it over there but I am cooking all day long today and very thankful for your upload coming today ❤️

I've been really looking forward to you getting to this episode. Toph is easily one of the best characters in the show. Also, a little fun fact is that the Boulder's voice actor is Mick Foley, the former pro wrestler. Happy Thanksgiving to anyone who celebrates it.

Bradley Elsken

They actually wanted The Rock himself to do it, but he wasn't available at the time. So Mick Foley ended up just doing an impression of him

Lord-LemonHead

I totally fell for your joke at the beginning. I was ready to throw hands with whoever suggested you might want to skip such an iconic episode lol.

Steven

So a little fun fact: Toph is voiced by the same person who voiced Meng in The fortune teller episode:)

Just so you know Kyoshi’s heart is very much taken by her girlfriend Rangi. Kyoshi’s story is covered in the books.

The sheer joy on your face during the earth rumble tournament was exactly what i was expecting and looking forward too in this episode. Fun fact, toph is played by the same voice actress as aunt woo's assistant mang (the girl with the crazy hair and the bean curd puffs that called katara a flusie at the end of the fortunate teller episode). I know people said this show gets alot better in book 2. But i feel this is the true turning point, its all gold from here on (although ill admit i am biased)

PumpkinSparks

You're right, this episode was prime real estate for a Cabbage Man cameo. But alas, the most important character has not shown his face in this one... you HAVE met Melon Lord now though! So, the trifecta of green food balls is now complete with Lettuce Boy, Cabbage Man, and Melon Lord!!! ........ and don't worry about it, you won't understand what I'm talking about until the very end... You really had me in the beginning. I was ready to write a comment suggesting that maybe people were hesitant to hype it too much in fear you might deduce something. Because besides all of us loving this episode for obvious reasons, I think we all knew you will happily devour all the wrestling bits!

TOLD you you would love this one! :D Toph is not my favorite character, but she is up there for sure!

FINALLY! I remember when I was in school, I woke up early every morning and watched episode 6, specifically the final fight. It really had a doping effect on me. It filled me with energy for the stressful day

Loving Kyoshi is the most correct choice you could make. There are novels about her. I haven't read them but I heard they were good. Shes pretty popular among fans, I really hope they'd do an animated series for her. I love Korra, but you might wanna check the avatar comics The Promise & The Search before jumping into Korra. I don't wanna spoil anything but the avatar comics do help. I've seen some reactors who didnt read the comics were confused about a few things in Korra. The Avatar comics are pretty good

Was I hyped for your reaction to this reaction? Yes! And it was great! You cannot imagine how hyped little me was when I watched the episode for the firt time not knowing anything about wrestling. Now as an adult I understand the refrences more and so episode is getting better and better :D Toph is just great. Wouldn't want to fight against her :D

When you first started the show I timed out your pacing and realized you'd probably be reaching Toph's introduction around US Thanksgiving and boy was I right on the money! I thought you'd appreciate this one in particular given your affinity toward WWE and earthbending. The show really hits its stride now. Btw, Toph's fighting style is based on a real martial art style called "Southern Praying Mantis" style. It was invented by a monk from the Ming dynasty.

BakaSama

Count me among those who was quite upset at the disparity being shown for this episode in your intro before you explained you were joking. Toph is my favorite character in the show and as someone who got into wrestling during the 80’s this episode holds a special place in my heart. I also love Toph’s attitude and humor, and there’s a joke she makes in an upcoming episode that absolutely cemented her place as my favorite.

Flufux

Just a tip: it's from this point on that we get the 'previously on' segments, and honestly, I found them to be very spoilery and felt like they ruined a fair bit from my own first viewing, especially in later episodes, and I think your reactions would be better if you skipped them.

VeggieGamer

Thanks Flufux, I am not 100% how to avoid them, as they are post the intro. I guess I could start and stop the recording, but even skimming through to the actual start may cause some spoilers. I'll have a think! What do other reactors usually do for this?

There was a series of questions on University Challenge a few weeks ago about music featured in Civilization IV, and based on those tracks I don't think they're 100% authentic to the country and era of origin- they went for vibes XD
