No Way Back - Arcane Episode 9 First Time Full Reaction! (Patreon)

Hi guys.... wow, what an ending to the first season.  This is definitely one of the best episodes, with possibly the best scene out of all of them.  I feel so conflicted for each character, which is such a good sign of great writing.

OK, I AM BACKTRACKING WHAT I SAY IN THE INTRO! I give episode 8 a bit of a hard time, be warned.  I am sure I am alone in thinking what I do about it, but wanted to air my honest opinions about it.  That being said, I do not do a very good job of explaining what I mean, so sorry to anyone that disagrees.  I have loved every single episode of this, regardless of where I rank them.

Love you, guys.  I love Powder too. :( This is a tough one.

I don't think the deaths of the kids at the start and the end of episode 8 aren't earned really, as that's not their purpose. The one at the start, is to show the environment Mel grew up in, to show why she acts as she does throughout the series; as a way to ensure she doesn't become her mother. The kid death at the end, isn't so much about that kid; its to open Jayce's eyes up about what's going on down there, and for him to show some compassion for the Undercity residents, when he was basically accusing all of them - Viktor aside - from being terrorists in episode 7. I love the Sevika and Vi fight scenes. They are superbly choreographed and they are both well matched. Sevika really detests the sisters! Both of them have blown her arm off in some way lol! I really like her though, she is a badass and I think may actually become an ally for the second season, as she wanted independence for Zaun too. Perhaps this is pushing it, but I hope she and Vi can team up next season to take the fight to Piltover. That would be awesome. Silco hated Vander for abandoning his fight and accepting compromise; why? Because he dropped his gloves to look after the kids. Silco gets it at the end, he could get everything he wanted, a Nation of Zaun; just one problem, giving up Jinx, his daughter. He won't do that now. Its poetic that he became Vander here, just as Jinx becomes him. This season is just one great Greek Tragedy. Jinx saves Vi from Silco when he sees how much pain his daughter is in, due to Vi's words about remembering the past, the past that causes her so much distress. In doing so, she kills the last part of Powder and accepts her descent into madness by becoming Jinx. Her last act as Powder was killing Silco for Vi, her first act fully as Jinx, is avenging him - her father - by bringing down the Council and starting a war. Vi used to protect Powder from her monsters; now she has become the monster. And its heartbreaking, fitting, wonderful and tragic. She didn't know if Vi could love Jinx, but Silco accepts her for who she is, as broken as she is, calling her "perfect". And she is; a perfect mess. In a series of great characters, she is on another level to them all. What will Caitlyn do now? She has survived two blasts from Jinx, in which her fellow enforcers got killed, and now it looks like her mother at the least, and perhaps Jayce, is killed too. I wouldn't blame her for going after Jinx, but that could put her at odds with Vi. From Vi's pov though, she can't either excuse Jinx's homicidal tendencies now; but I don't want to see her go against her sister either. Its just a horrible mess. What a series. I am going to take a break before starting season 2, because as I said, I don't want to do this series a disservice by binging it. And I can't wait, yet at the same time, am dreading the outcome to all this...

Possible S2 spoilers now, so avoid if you like. Mel's gold armour? had some sort of reaction, as the rocket was approaching, so maybe something to do with that could save some of them. There are two other characters in the room who are playable LoL champions, so there's a good chance that they survive somehow. The Hexcore is linked to Viktor somehow, so maybe that also comes into play. The shadowy figure hanging over Singed in his room, is another LoL champion - Warwick. This is speculation, not based on anything other than assuming in game characters are safe. Jayce and Victor survive, nobody else does. Mel in particular I think has to die. It'll put Jayce on the warpath, and Mel's mom is gonna get involved as well. She already wanted hextech weaponry, and Mel's death makes Jayce more willing to provide them. Furthermore, killing Caitlyn's mom adds another wrinkle in the Cait/Vi/Jinx triangle.

I'd just like to say thanks for the great reactions, and thanks for being honest with your impressions of episode 8 and everything else. I don't agree but I think honesty is always better than just saying what you think people want to hear.

HOLY NO FLANNEL! gotta say that shirt matches the cap :) The left us on a huge cliff hanger, and the show was so friggen amazing. It was a pretty legit finale leaving us in wonder was to what could come. Over all its an amazing show and i enjoyed your reactions :) cheers to finishing it bro

Silent viewer here, really enjoyed your reaction to all of the episodes. You picked up on a few things I didn't even pick up on my first time watching and I love how invested you are in the characters. Also, you're not alone, I also still love Jinx xD I'm also really enjoying your TLOTR and Hobbit reactions :D A show I'd LOVE to see you react to is Stranger Things. Interesting characters, good story, nice atmosphere. Don't want to spoil too much, but I think you would really enjoy it :)

Don't feel sorry for having your own oppinion! Personally, the things you brought up about episode 8 didn't bother me too much. But I can definitely see where you're coming from and you certainly make some vaild points there!

Silco is easily one of the best villains ever written (at least to me). They way how his story comes full circle is so incredible. When he's sitting at Vander's statue and saying "It all makes sense now brother" is saying so much. He finally understands why Vander gave up fighting all those years ago: his kids. He basically raised Powder and he has grown to love her like his own child. So much in fact that he is willing to give up his entire life goal right as it is at his very finger tips. But he would have thrown it all out the window to save Jinx. I just cant emphasize enough how much I love this character.
